As a previous classroom teacher, I often observed students spending the majority of their day in the classroom inactive, stressed, anxious, and struggling to maintain engagement through the duration of time. As a new PE teacher, I hope to offer new opportunities for students to release some "bubbled up" energy while allowing for a more sustained focus when they return back to the classroom. Fit to the Beat will enable students to be active participants that will foster a clearer focus when they return to the classroom. Research shows that certain types of music can actually make the brain more receptive to learning especially when physical activity is paired with mental exercise. Through Fit to the Beat, all students will work on fine motor skills, coordination, spatial awareness and ultimately have fun!
