My students need a classroom (35) set of Brave New World By Aldous Huxley. We are in the Integrated Technology Academy and focus on how technology can better our lives. How we can integrate it into our lives seamlessly and beneficially; but we never stop to ask ourselves is it too much, or even should we ask! While it is important to stay current and understand how beneficial technology is, we must also use it responsibly lest it become uncontrollable. In this unit we will be studying the effects when technology runs rampant and out of control. Brave New World will be our cornerstone with generous helpings of Bradbury, and current articles and documentaries portraying the down side of up. This argument will not be one sided; we will also explore how it can be implemented for social betterment as well. The whole of the project will culminate in a research paper, but not just a literary analysis paper. ITA seeks active solutions not passive ideas. We will create real life guidelines and goals the students, the parents, and even I can use in real everyday life.
