I am a fourth grade teacher at Traverse Mountain Elementary, where writing has become an integral component in our curriculum. An important part of the writing process is having the students type up and publish their completed work. We also use a writing program which allows students to check their progress and edit accordingly. With over 150 fourth graders, and only one class set of chrome-books to share between five fourth grade classes, it is next to impossible to give each student the proper amount of time to accomplish this. I would love to see each child succeed in writing, and having the equipment necessary to research and practice their typing skills, is an important part of achieving this goal. My students need four Chrome-books to supplement their research and writing, and provide prompt feedback. The Chrome-books will be used during small group rotations to ensure each child has adequate writing time.
