DEODORANT for Fairmount Elementary School!
Funded Mar 17, 2024Thank you so much for your GENEROUS donation! Your donation was on my Birthday!! It was the best birthday present I recieved this year! I work at a very low income school and many of my student's and their families do not have money to purchase basic supplies. Our request for deodorant ws a definite NEED.
As a PE team, we discussed the need for deodorant, showed the kids how to use it and had them practice putting it on. We normalized how our bodies smell and talked about how we can use products like deodorant, and how to take regular showers to make ourselves healthy and successful.
We had many students who said because of our talks and your generous donation, they were able to start a conversation with their family members.
Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
All the teachers at my school say thank you and their noses were very grateful as well!”

Deodorant for PE!
Funded Apr 20, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to our school deodorant project. You made our students so happy and thankful! Many of the students commented that they had wanted deodorant, but did not know how to ask for it, or that they felt embarrased.
We had talks with all of the classroom teachers too about how important this hygene product was for our students. The classroom teachers, and their noses, really appreciated the difference. We made this conversation about hygene completely normal and approachable.
We could not have done it without you! You really changed our school cuture and climate regarding health and wellness. Thanks so so much!”

Health and Nutrition Education!
Funded Oct 15, 2018I have received grants in the past, but honestly this was probably the most powerful teaching tool grant I have ever received in my 17 years of teaching. I taught a two week nutrition education unit. The students learned SO much about healthy eating and making good choices. Not only were they able to play and learn through their hands on experiences with the equipment you donated, they were also able to transfer that information to their lunchtime experiences.
At my school, over 70 percent of our students receive free or reduced price lunch and breakfast. I regularly eat lunch and breakfast with our students. Now when I eat with them, or even when I walk through the cafeteria during meal times, I hear them talking about choosing fruits and vegetables. I hear them remind each other to "eat your protein." I see that more students are choosing white milk over chocolate milk and I know they know lower sugar is better. Where before kids would only take an apple because they had to have produce on their plate, I now see the salad portion of the salad bar being emptied, kids crunching on carrots and apples being finished down to the core.
You have truly changed the life of these kids for the better. We at Challenger Elementary School cannot thank you enough for how you have helped our students to be healthy and happy learners.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so so much for the opportunity to get new basketballs for my school. I work in a very low income school and many of my students have never before even played basketball. Now that they have their very own brand new basketballs, they feel more confident that they can play the sport! We even had a few students try out for a local basketball team. The impact your donation had will help these kids to succeed in their lives. We are so grateful for the generosity that you have shown. We hope that other projects of ours will get funded as well.”

Funded Oct 10, 2016Thank you so much for bringing this technology to our school. The sound system has become a fast favorite both during class time, and during lunch recess. Many of you probably listen to music when you work out and when you are at the gym. Now, our students are able to do the same when they work out at school. We are able to listen to the latest tunes on our stereo due to the blue tooth capability. I downloaded songs from student requests on to my smart phone, and now I can play them on the playground as the students play.
The most exciting part of this new equipment is the way students who didn't like physical education or participation before are now becoming engaged and excited about the curriculum. I had a first grader, who is 6 years old, finally start to try new things in PE because he felt the music "gave him energy."
We are all so appreciative of your gift. Your gift of technology has made our school a more fun, vibrant and healthy place to learn!”
