  • Growth Mindset Needs!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

I was happily surprised when I heard that my project got funded! I am so appreciative of the generous donations. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and every donor. My students can now benefit from this incredible section in our classroom library. I can't wait to see them enjoying the books!”

  • Laptop for Learning!

    Funded Jun 8, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation towards the new Laptop! As you know, technology has become a huge part of our everyday lives and this is true for our classrooms as well. Miami Dade County Public Schools provide our students with many programs and applications that are build to assist and enhance the learning process. Making these programs interactive in order to catch their attention.

Technology has now become a necessity in our classrooms and although we have laptops in our school, those need to be shared among classes due to the fact that we do not have one per child. My students are working on many programs such as iready, Reflex Math, Gizmos. etc.

My fifth graders love to use this laptop because off course it is the new item in our classroom. They love the fact that it is small and lightweight. They also love that you can flip it and make it like a tablet and touch the screen as well. This laptop has definitely enhanced the learning process in our classroom!”

  • Projecting Knowledge!

    Funded Nov 28, 2020

Thank you so much for the Document Camera, and the Laminator! The laminator has been used to assist my students to use shared documents in a safe matter. We were able to reuse different charts by wiping the surface area with alcohol making it safe for everyone.

The document camera has been a blessing! I have been able to project many documents and parts of books on the interactive board without the need to make copies. This document camera allows me to scan and save copies of these items. This was very helpful when we were quarantined for 14 days. My students were able to see the items that I scanned and we continued to learn as if we were in school.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morales

  • Distance Learning Reading and Researching!

    Funded May 20, 2020

Thank you for the novels that you donated to my 5th grade class. My students were excited to receive the boxes filled with the books. The novels that I chose are novels that are rich in experiences. They are beautiful stories that teach different aspects of life; such as love, loss, kindness, sacrifice, hardship, determination. They also teach us about being different and acceptance of those differences.

Each child has their own novel. We read the novel together as a class and share different thoughts and feelings. We look at new vocabulary words and practice using strategies in order to figure out their meanings. The students also use the novels to work on the different Reading benchmarks taught throughout the year; for example, author's point of view, Text Structure, character traits etc.

My class enjoys reading these new books. They look forward to the time of day when we read the novel. They all want to read aloud and share their thoughts with each other. I have a few avid readers that can't wait to reach the end and see what happens.”

    With gratitude,

  • One, Two, Three, Research!

    Funded Oct 24, 2018

Thank you so much for donating the laptop to my 5th grade class! My students and I were very excited when we received the laptop. Thanks to your generous donation, my class can now have access to the laptop and work in groups to conduct research. My class is also able to complete computerized assessments without leaving our classroom. My students are anxious to get the laptop and work independently. Also, they enjoy working cooperatively and to complete and report the research done. You have made a huge difference in our classroom and for that we are forever grateful.”

  • Turn It Off! The Outdoors Await!

    Funded Nov 20, 2017

My class and I are forever grateful to have received such an amazing gift! My students have recess time everyday, and they love to play with the toys that were donated to our class. Everyday I witness how this amazing group of students get together in teams to enjoy playing. Everyone participates and they really love when I join in and play with them. Fridays are our special day; this is the day we play baseball with the bases and all.

I explained to my class that I got funded; and that we would receive all of these materials. They were ecstatic and kept asking if the materials had arrived. Once the boxes arrived, they could not wait for me to open everything. Finally, I got everything thing opened and organized!!! They tried every single toy.

Once again, thank you so much for the donation. I truly have an amazing group of fifth graders. These students are good hearted and over achievers. Their goal is to do their very best. I will continue to use these materials as incentives for their hard work and dedication. They are also playing outdoors, exercising and learning what it is to be a team, to share and learn from each other.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morales

I believe hands-on, interactive learning is the best way to get students to engage in topics that would usually bore them if I told them to skim through an old torn up math textbook. An iPad can be many things in the classroom, an electronic dry-erase board for copying mathematical equations , a canvas for students to expand their imagination, and a virtual textbook where one can highlight words or zoom into images. Elementary students in 2016 don't necessarily like flipping through 300 page books and with the iPads, the world of learning is a tap away and the study of Mammals and Amphibians suddenly becomes much more interesting. As a fourth grade teacher, writing is a whole new topic and is difficult to introduce. With the iPads, no additional dictionaries or large textbooks are needed when Google is also a click away. Synonyms, writing techniques, and sources for informational essays can all be found easily on an iPad. Students would be more productive and open to learning if you put an electronic device on their lap. Its 2016, help us save paper and iLearn together.
