  • Sphero, Makey Makey, and Osmo, Oh My!

    Funded Nov 15, 2023

I am so thrilled you funded this project! My students will be so appreciative of the iPad that will be used to re-introduce my current STEM tools in our soon-to-be makerspace. The Apple Pencil will also add a new dimension! Please know that you have my appreciation as well. Thank you and be well!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pollard

  • The Library Lifeline!

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

Thank you so much for your contribution to my project. The television you helped in purchasing for our high school library has already had an incredible impact on students. This TV is not being used in the traditional way as one does at home; it is being used as a digital sign. This digital sign has several displays that change based on the time and day.

Students are informed of the date, time, and weather on every display. They may also scan a QR code to connect to the school WIFI instantly. In the morning, the day's schedule is shown. It then transitions into book trailers for books that are available in the library. During lunch, brand new library book trailers are presented. Finally, after school, the clubs and their locations are on display.

I have had several students state how much they love it. Many of these students have seen a book trailer that piqued their interest and inspired them to check out the book they saw a trailer for. The club display after school has also been quite popular. Some kids like to club-hop, so they come to check out what is available for that day. Not only is it informational, but it looks great, too.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Pollard

Isolated, struggling, and utterly exhausted; this is still the reality for many of my students. The Covid-19 pandemic turned students' lives upside down. They became disconnected and socially anxious. Many of them now find solace in the school library. My goal is to use technology to assist in the transition back into the school environment. My students deserve to feel connected, supported, and rejuvenated! This can be accomplished by informing and entertaining them with a 70-in. television. This display will allow me to notify students of upcoming school events like sports, clubs, fundraisers, and student celebrations. This LCD TV will help them feel connected to their school community and celebrating our teams and clubs will give them the confidence and motivation to succeed. Specifically it will help with (NVAC LIB 9-12 6.G.1 Personalize their use of information and information technologies... Use print, non-print, and electronic information resources for information about personal needs.) The display will also be used to inform students of new book arrivals and book trailers to entertain and encourage reading for pleasure. (NVAC LIB 9-12 5.T.1 Read widely and deeply in multiple formats and write and create for a variety of purposes.) I am confident that funding this project will ease some of the anxiety from the return to school by making them feel informed and connected again.
