For the Love of Reading!
Funded Jan 16, 2021Thank you so much for being a part of of our project and bringing it to life. Our students will be excited to receive their high interest books. Every day we are pushing ourselves to learn more and become stronger readers and these mangas will allow them to practice reading skills independently as they read for pleasure.
Additionally, you are showing our students and our community that there is kindness in this world and individuals who care about and support other’s interests. Such an important reminder, especially in times where our communities are surrounded by uncertainty. Thank you for making all of this possible!”

Essentials for Learning From Home
Funded May 6, 2020Thank you so much for your contribution to our "Essentials for Learning from Home" project. Our students were very excited to receive whiteboards, canvases, paints, and snacks! They have been able to use their whiteboards to work on math problems and practice spelling sight words. We used the canvas to complete the DNA end of unit project where students painted examples of genetic traits in humans, animals, and plants. Students were thrilled to receive and eat their snacks during our virtual class celebrations.
Once again, thank you for making this possible.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018The Balance Ball Chair, Dynamic Movement Sensory Sox, and Trampoline were a great hit with the students. They were very excited when they saw the kits and could hardly wait to have an opportunity to use them.
In addition to meeting my student's sensory integration needs, we learned and celebrated Autism Awareness. The students had an opportunity to explore and experience with different sensory items and equipment. After having a sensory day and the opportunity to explore with all the items and equipment, students had a better understanding of why some students need certain breaks and equipment that other students might not need.
This was an amazing experience for my students and the rest of the student population. Not only were they able to experience sensory integration, they were able to understand that these sensory items and equipment are not toys, they are things that help some students relax, focus, feel safe, or release energy in an appropriate way. Thank you so much for providing my students with the opportunity to regulate their sensory needs and providing the rest of the students with the opportunity to explore with different sensory integration items.”

Funded Nov 7, 2017The Design and Build Engineering Centers and Engineer-A-Coaster Activity Kit were a great hit the students. They were very excited when they saw the kits and could hardly wait to have an opportunity to explore with them and show case their knowledge.
We explored the topic of transportation by reading about the different types of transportation, investigating characteristics of different vehicles, and illustrating and writing about transportation. After the students received, processed, and explained the information on transportation, they had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and demonstrate understanding of the newly acquired information by creating their own form of transportation.
This was an amazing experience for my students. Not only were they able to demonstrate their understanding of transportation, they also practiced collaboration and planning strategies with the Magnetic Stand-up Whiteboard. In addition, students were also able to practice their fine motor skills as they demonstrated their knowledge of modern transportation. Incorporating STEM into their learning was a great success. Thank you so much for providing the students with the opportunity to explore, create, and showcase their knowledge. We will continue to create these opportunities for our students by incorporating STEM activities into our next units.”

Funded Feb 28, 2017I cannot express my gratitude enough. My students got really excited when they saw our materials had arrived. They were very grateful when they found out that because of your kind donations they are able to receive materials to create an art piece representing symbolism used in their literature. They were all excited to create a masterpiece that symbolizes their novel. With your help, my students were not only able to identify symbolism in their literature, they were also able to apply their knowledge of symbolism.
While we were waiting for our materials, we explored symbolism and took notes on objects and color symbolism. Students continued to read their novels and identify symbolism used by the authors. By the time the materials arrived, the students were ready to depict their understanding of symbolism and what better way than exploring with the beautiful paints and canvas you donated.
I am pleased to see that not only were the students excited about the symbolism unit, but their parents expressed excitement as well. I had parents approached me to talk about the symbolism unit and express their child's excitement when talking about the project at home. I also had students come in with books they are reading at home to discuss symbolism they found in their books. We are ready to move forward and have the students not only depict symbolism through paintings, but also include it in their own writing.”
