My 2nd graders attend a high poverty elementary school in the South Bronx. They have to face a lot of adversity on a daily basis. Nothing is handed to them and they have to work extra hard in a tough environment. Fortunately my students are too young to fully understand their shortcomings. I try to make every school day a happy and fulfilling experience. The walls of my classroom is their safe haven. A place where they know they are safe, appreciated, and loved.
