Applying Geometric Concepts Through Art
Funded Mar 31, 2011Thank you all for your generosity and for donating to a worthy cause. The art supplies that you helped to fund have been used to introduce geometric concepts in an engaging and fun way. As you can see from the classroom photos, my students created Optical art cubes that incorporate mathematical concepts and tools in order to create original designs. Even after this unit project was completed, several students chose to continue the use of compasses and rulers in later units.
This year, our art department received no art budget and we relied on donations and creative problem solving to make meaningful artworks. Your donation has helped to alleviate the impact of our budget shortfall and has helped to make the art room a place where my students want to go.
Thank you again for your donation and for supporting the arts (and math, of course).

Learn Geometry Through Art
Funded Feb 20, 2010It is with great gratitude that I write this letter to you for your donation to our classroom project. The geometric drawing tools that you have helped to purchase have made a clear and noticeable impact on my students' artwork. After completion of the geometric art unit, my students have a working knowledge of using rulers and compasses to create fun and engaging artwork. They are also more familiar with and comfortable using math terms when describing their art.
Your generous donation has made it possible for my students to blend the arts with math concepts and will hopefully be less intimidated by math in the future. Thank you for helping them acquire new skills and abilities in math and in art, and for making school a place where learning, creativity and fun are intertwined.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Goudas
This classroom project was brought to life by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and 4 other donors.Overflowing with Art Projects and No Place to Dry Them!
Funded Jan 13, 2010The drying racks that have you have generously contributed to have greatly impacted my students. We no longer have to leave paintings on the window sill or on tables to dry, we can now store them safely out of harms way. My art room is beginning to look and feel like a 'real' art room. My students are showing more respect for their artwork and understand that he drying rack is a necessity in an art room. I have explained the the drying rack and artist materials are expensive and that we are very fortunate to have them.
We thank you again for contributing to our classroom.”
