  • Work Out! Rock Out!

    Funded Apr 22, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for your donation of the small speaker to use when my Physical Education classes are moved to the classrooms on those days when the gym is unavailable. Music plays such a big impact on energy levels in PE classes and the sound system in the gym cannot be transported. My kids love to listen to music and it really gets their energy levels up and they are able to have an effective, meaningful workout in the time period allotted for physical activity. Thank you so much for your generous donation to the students of Chicago, specifically at Dawes Public School.”

    With gratitude,

  • Get Your Body Movin!

    Funded Feb 3, 2023

I cannot thank you enough for donating to my school project- "Get Your Body Movin!" I have been a Physical Education teacher for the past five years and noticed immediately that music provided my students with such a more energetic, upbeat atmosphere than a class with no music. I was lucky enough to get a good Bluetooth Speaker through another Donors Choose submission years ago, however, the wear and tear in the gym, finally took its toll. In the Fall my old speaker no longer worked and my school was unable to provide funds for a new speaker. I turned to Donors Choose and had almost given up hope, when one day I received the best news ever- that my project had been chosen! I was so grateful to receive the new Bose speaker. However, once the speaker arrived, there was an issue with the sound- every time I turned the speaker to the max volume, it would shut off. This was not good for a Physical Education class! Kids, balls, jump ropes, and other equipment we constantly use in class can be loud! I needed my speakers to pump up the volume! After speaking with a Donors Choose representative, it was decided that I could exchange the speakers for a different brand. I chose the Song XG500 and it is awesome! It really helps my students and myself to remain energized and pumped up during PE classes. Music changes the whole dynamic of a PE Class and I am so grateful that you chose to fund my project. My students and I thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!”

  • AirPod Phys Ed

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this project being funded. As a Physical Education teacher teaching remotely in the City of Chicago, my AirBuds have truly changed the whole dynamic of my teaching style. I still exercise with my students every day, even on the computer, as I strive to keep all of them physically active now more than ever. Before receiving my AirPods, I had to go back and forth as I was attached to the cord on my old earbuds, now I am free to move about and exercise right along with my students. I believe in working out with them so they know it is not just important for them to exercise but adults as well. I aim to teach my students that being fit and active is necessary each and every day. Thank you again for this donation, it is very much appreciated.”

  • Pump up the Volume! Get Yo Bodies Movin!

    Funded May 20, 2020

Thank you so much for funding Pump Up the Volume, Get Yo Bodies Movin! I use my Bose speakers normally in the Gym when classes are in-person, but due to the pandemic I have been using my speakers during live Google Meets with my students and also on the recordings that I make for students to view at a designated time throughout the day.

As a Physical Education teacher, I have always used music in my classroom in order to do exactly what my project is called, to get bodies moving! I find myself wanting to be more energetic when I have good music playing and this is exactly what I want for my students. PE is an important class for my students to become physically active and fit for a lifetime but it is also a place where they can be louder than they are in a regular classroom setting and blare fun music! I want my students to express themselves, find activities and sports in which they enjoy doing so that I can help them to develop a lifestyle that includes physical fitness as part of an everyday ritual.

I record several lessons a week for my students to view at any time and as you can see from the pictures, I always have my speaker on blaring out music to motivate children to get up and move their bodies! I also use my speakers during Live Meets to dance along with the kids as we get our bodies movin! Students have told me time and time again how much they love hearing the music played during these Meets and videos and that makes me so happy! I am also working closely with another PE teacher at my school so she also uses the speakers to play music for her students!

I am so grateful for your generosity in purchasing speakers that are loud enough to be heard not only in the Gym but also on recordings and Live Google Meets. Thank you so very much for your generosity and kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moriarty

My students love to read and play with puzzles. By incorporating both into the library I can make the library an enjoyable place to be and encourage students to become lifelong readers that truly enjoy reading! I see primary students for 60 minutes, and sometimes it is difficult to keep students focused. With the use of puzzles I can encourage reading and good behavior amongst the primary students. I plan to read aloud to students for the first half of class, 30 minutes, and then allow students to use puzzles for the second half of class. Students will be excited to read, learn, and play in the library.
