Let's Start the Year Off Right!
Funded Aug 12, 2019Thank you for providing my classroom with the materials they need to start off the year! I am so excited to have them start writing in their journals. What a great way to express themselves in a developmentally appropriate way. I know they will love writing down their thoughts and illustrating their ideas!
The scissors have been fantastic. Cutting and holding scissors properly is an important kindergarten skill. Having enough materials for my entire class has been so beneficial to all of my students.”

Use Your Imagination!
Funded Aug 11, 2019The beginning of the school year is always very exciting, many of my students get to meet up again with old friends and many are making new friends.
My students were so excited to play with the plus plus blocks, many had never seen them before. What I loved mostly was how playing with these blocks, at free choice, helped break barriers. My students played with new friends and made these unbelievable creations.
The student were able to work cooperatively and also independently. They could use their imaginations and are always excited to share what they made. They have been such an asset to our afternoons!”

Funded Nov 12, 2018My students are loving their ETA daily math. This kit has been promoting fluency in numbers as well as an excitement to do daily math activities.
We have been focusing on the subitizing cards which has given me an insight into my students mathematical thinking. We started off simple with 3 bears on a card. The kids were able to quickly tell me the quantity and then the way the bears were positioned to make that particular number. For example one on top and two on the bottom. From there, I have increased the difficulty of the cards and asked them to be more explicit in their explanations.
We plan on using the cards on a daily basis and then move on to using the rekenrek and ways to think about larger numbers.”

Funded Aug 30, 2018My kids were so excited to open up their Brain Blox boxes. Everyday they ask if the Brain Blox are an open center. It is so amazing to see their imaginations at work. They are constantly creating and building and excited to share their creations.
What I love is how the students are forming new bonds with their friends and working cooperatively with each other. They enjoy the process of planning what they would like to build and then creating and recreating to make their structures more sound and more interesting.
Thank you so much for your generosity and helping to foster the love for learning with my students.”

"Let's Play!'
Funded Aug 1, 2018My students were so excited to play with their new kitchen food and toys. They have been spending their afternoons preparing meals for each other.
What I love is the cooperative play that is happening in the room. They are using the tools to "feed their families" or play restaurant.
The multicultural foods have really had a strong impact. They have been talking and having conversations with each other about the different foods they see, what they have tried and where they tried it as well as asking each other about unfamiliar foods.
It has really helped the students engage with each other during free play time.”

We Love to Write!
Funded Sep 10, 2017Writing is such an important part of our Kindergarten program. The students are taught to respond to text and also to write to a specific topic. We learn about how to write opinion pieces and informational text. The journals you provided will help my students work on their writing skills. We will use the journals to practice our "best guess" spelling. We will also use them to help with sharing responses that focus on speaking and listening skills. The students can use the picture portion to practice adding details to their pictures which will then help them with adding details to their writing.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

Ready, Set, Go... A New Year Is Starting!
Funded Aug 17, 2017My students were so excited to receive their new write and roll easel. The fact that they were able to go up to the easel, share their work, help the class read the news, work with 10 frames and the number rack was so much fun to watch. The students are engaged in the learning process and can't wait to do our morning opening each day. I am happy because I have the ability to use either side of the lesson to help differentiate my instruction. Whether it is a language arts, writing or math lesson the easel has really helped my students!”

Go, Go, Go! We Love Riding Our Tricycles!
Funded Oct 17, 2016Dear Donors,
I wish you could have seen how excited the students were when they saw the new bikes! From the moment the boxes came, to when one of the dad's put them together it was so exciting and fun to watch. The kids talk about how fast they are, how shiny they are and how much fun it is to ride around the track.
What I love even more is that they figured out a system so it was fair for everyone to have a turn riding the new bikes. Six turns around the track and then on to the next person in line.
Your generosity is truly appreciated.”

Write it and Hide it!
Funded Dec 31, 2015My students were so excited to get the new wipe off boards and markers. When I took them out for their wipe off spelling lesson they could not get over how new they were and were so excited to do their phonics lessons. They all could not wait to write sentences on the back of their boards!
We do "wipe off spelling" 3 days a week, we use the boards to teach phonics lessons, reading and decoding with the students. Having the new boards has gotten them very excited to do their work and also to work on turning their phonics skills into writing and reading lessons. We also have been using the boards to model writing numbers and for directed drawing lessons.
Thank you for supporting my class.”

Technology For Kinders!
Funded Aug 6, 2015My class uses ipads at least once a week, there are a variety of ways they help impact learning in the classroom. First, our school offers a reading program which assesses the kids at their reading level and then on the ipad they can access lessons that will move them forward in their foundational reading skills. The kids love going on this program, especially as they earn certificates as they complete each level. The ipads are also used to differentiate my math instruction, there are a variety of apps on the ipad that let the students access math skills where they learn in a fun way. The ipads are also a great tool for whole group lessons at the rug, where my students can interact with the app and get immediate results. I can also see where there is understanding, or where we need to spend a little more time.
The ipad charger has made managing the ipads in the classroom so much easier, I don't have cords all over the place and I can keep the charged and accessible to the students. With the charger in my room, the students can complete their small group work and then get an ipad to spend more time on a learning skill. Thank you again for your support, you made my kindergarteners very happy!”

Ms. Rauch
