Mastering Pre-K
Funded Nov 10, 2017Thank you for your donation. My students were so excited when we saw our packages coming in. We had a big unwrapping party. As I pulled out the items, I explained to them what we can use the different materials for. The students were really excited for all the puzzles and the letter construction kits.
We have been using the letter constructions kits to go over letter, their formations, and introduce sounds. The students love using the manipulatives to build letters. It is on of their favorite activities. This has helped the students identify letters and begin writing letters because they can see how letters are form and their shapes whether it has straight lines, curves, or both. The students love working on puzzles. It is an activity they do when they finish their classwork. They always ask me if they will get to use the puzzles after they finish their work.
The school supplies have been helpful in allowing me to make copies, students practicing writing their names, and developing their fine motor skills. The dry erase markers are used for students to practice writing their names, numbers and words. I have put the tweezers in the sensory tub for students to use to try to pick up different objects with. Overtime they are at the center they are developing their fine motor skills and muscles.
Manipulatives and hands on activities do help Pre-K students learn concepts easier. Having the different manipulatives from this project, I have notice improvements in my students progress. I would like to acquire more hands on materials to strengthen students academic and social vocabulary. Students from my school lack the vast vocabulary that affluent students may have. I am see that more and more that my students lack the vocabulary need to express themselves, describe objects, and identify items. My next donor choose project will be on gaining materials that reinforce my vocabulary development curriculum.”
With gratitude,
