This classroom project was brought to life by Utah State Board of Education.Mother's Day Art/ Research Project.
Funded Feb 24, 2017Thank you for your generous contributions towards the fundraising of our Mother's Day project. With your help we were able to provide all of our students with art supplies that were used to create artwork for mothers, grandmothers, and other special women on Mother's Day. Students enjoyed fusing social studies with art and were able to draw connections between history and the artwork that they were creating. After hours of class discussion, individual research, and art production, our class mothers were able to receive art that was not only created by the heart but with the mind.
This project inspired a video that our class put together for mothers. Please check out the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o7PH1MHNgM or by searching "Happy Mother's Day from Mr. Lovell's Class " on YouTube.
Thank you again! The materials purchased through this fundraiser are long lasting and will be used during our 2017-2018 school year. We hope to show all current and future donors that collected funds are used to produce quality experiences and memories that go far beyond a single lesson in the classroom. Please support us by spreading the word about the amazing students we have in Mr. Lovell's 6th grade class at Westside Elementary.”

Inspiration & Innovation through Chromebooks
Funded Sep 11, 2016We want to thank you all for your generous contribution and belief in our class. All of the money that was raised was used to buy materials for our classroom that will stay at our school for years to come. We were able to purchase 5 Chromebook laptops, 1 printer, and 5 copies of our class's read aloud book, 'Divergent'.
Currently students have enjoyed using the Chromebooks for independent research, group science projects, and English language learning. One of our students who recently moved here from Central America has been able to keep up with our math class (taught in English) by using a Chromebook to do the same math activities in Spanish using a web based Math program called Khan Academy. This accommodation and many more are only possible because of the resources obtained through this fundraiser.
In a world that is able to advance its technology on a daily basis, it is so important that our students are able to keep up. We plan on using our Chromebooks to work on shared online projects, internet based research, typing, and whatever other tools we can discover as time passes.
Thank you again for your belief in us and willingness to act!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Lovell
