With the tablets my students will have the ability to conduct research on earth's resources, different types of plants, plant resources, geographical areas, and erosion. They will also be able to listen to books about science being read to them along with watching videos to help visualize difficult concepts. At the end of the garden project students will utilize the tablets to make public service announcements/commercials about why people should come to the community garden and what they will find when they get there. The binders and dividers will allow students to stay organized with their observations and research for the project. The garden tools and materials will allow students to get their hands dirty and take their learning to a new level as they learn about the plant life cycles. The bird feeder will be an extra special feature they will have to donate to the school garden area; as well as learn about the animals that benefit from provided resources. Being a part of something that is going to benefit your entire school can be very special. Our current outdoor garden space is not inviting. I want my students to bring their learning to life by using what they learn to make this space welcoming to all. My students need to feel like they have a purpose for coming to school. My hope is each child will be a part of a project that challenges them to always give freely to others and "dig" deep to create change!
