Back to the Basics
Funded Oct 24, 2019Words cannot ever express the amount of gratitude I have for the generosity of donors! We, as teachers, try our best to give our students all the opportunities we can afford, but you give us the opportunity to do SO MUCH MORE beyond our expectations. The supplies given through this project are so greatly appreciated. Not only did it impact my seniors, but I also was able to utilize this with my freshman and juniors also! So many kids had an experience they never would have if it were not for the funding of this project. Thank you again for thinking of me and my students- wish we you the best!”

Funded Dec 8, 2018What an amazing project these supplies have been a part of! My goal in writing this was to begin to compile supplies that can assist with mental health in the high school. Often, we focus so much on standards and curriculum that the mental well being of the child gets pushed aside. At a high school with nearly 2500 students, it is easy to get caught up in our core areas.
The bean bag and mindfulness activity cards quickly became a student-favorite. The blank canvas boards will be used for a project towards the end of the year with my two classes of seniors. They are reading the Last Lecture and will really dig deep as we progress through the book.
Thank you SO MUCH for your generous support of my classroom. I am so thrilled so be able to start my own compilation of mental health support supplies. The best thing about these specific supplies is that I can easily share them with our counselors (who have already asked!) and other teachers. Not only is your donation helping my own students, but any number of other students throughout the school. Thank you again for your kindness- it is truly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Ammirante

Funded Jul 3, 2018Wow- what an exciting delivery of items this was! I didn't know all the ways this was going to be utilized when I first posted this project beyond my original idea. I have been blown away by my student's interest level in photography and even just the interest level into the Macbook itself.
Each box of supplies I have ever received through Donors Choose always delivers the opportunity to do something with my students that I wouldn't ever have been able to do. I wish I could continuously post the facial expressions and the excitement that has come with just a simple delivery. The students and I are so genuinely thankful for your support of our classroom!”

Funded Dec 15, 2017Thank you so much for your support of my classroom and my kids. This project was especially important to me because I want my students to begin to dream about their futures. I believe in them, and I want them to become aware of the amazing opportunities that are out there for them. To be able to incorporate a technology we don't normally see in schools very much- a camera- and to be able to expose them to careers in Science was so rewarding.
I am so appreciative of each and every donation that is received. I can't put into words how exciting it is in this classroom to be able to provide my kids with otherwise impossible supplies. Their faces when we receive a box is priceless! Thank you, again, from the bottom of my heart for helping me give my students everything they deserve and MORE.”

Funded Dec 13, 2017What an exciting project this was for our students! Over the last few years, I have noticed an increasing interesting in photography- probably due to their love of all things social media. When the camera came in, they couldn't wait to learn how to use it! We have access to several different areas of technology, but DSLR cameras and video cameras aren't really something that has been supplied by the school. This opportunity is one that many of kids will also not see out of school.

Funded Dec 25, 2017The storage and the hammock swing have made such a huge impact in my classroom. My building was built in the early 1900s. At that time, students were arranged in neat rows and teachers stood in the front of the room and lectured. My kids have to sit in desks all day, so by the time they get to me last period to do homework and study- their attention spans are struggling and they are tired of sitting. This storage gave the the necessary organization to create space for the hammock swing. My kids LOVE it! They fight over who gets to sit in it each day.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to provide my students with a flexible alternative to the usual seating!”

Poland Personally: Studying the Holocaust First-Hand
Funded Nov 28, 2017I cannot even begin to share how excited I am about this trip. To have learned about WWII and the Holocaust throughout my own education, and then to have shared my knowledge with my students, and now to get to experience these places and locations first-hand is something I never dreamed possible.
It is not often in teaching, especially historical events such as the Holocaust, that you are granted the opportunity to actually go there. I cannot even begin to imagine the pictures and knowledge I will be able to bring back to my students and colleagues. Without Donors Choose and the generosity of donors like yourself, I would have never been able to experience this opportunity. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.”
