In our classroom, technology is at the forefront of learning and engagement for students. In an effort to meet the needs and interest of my 2nd graders, I have created a wide variety of Literacy Centers that are STEM based and student focused. In my classroom students have the opportunity to choose between digital books on iPads, blogging via computers, exploring electricity through Snap Circuits, building structures through STEM bins, and investigating through Science mini-labs. By adding Dot and Dash to the list of options, I am offering kids an opportunity to begin learning the early steps of coding and robots, while making it look and feel like play! Dot and Dash will offer another dimension of learning to my classroom that currently does not exist. Not only will they end the year with an enhanced knowledge in coding, they will also have gained plenty of experience in cooperative learning and problem solving with their peers.
