  • Stickers, Snacks and Decorations to Motivate Our Students

    Funded Dec 15, 2023

I am so excited to be able to motivate my students with stickers. They need to know they are valued. One treat can make all the difference in the workd to motivate a student. All students should feel someone cares for them at school.

Thank you so much for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • AP Spanish Success

    Funded Dec 7, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. With these donations, I will be able to give each student a book to use. It is very hard for them to share because they all read at a different pace. I am so grateful for your generosity. Your generosity will help us be successful.”

  • Sounds and Comfort on Wellness Wednesdays

    Funded Mar 16, 2022

We are so grateful for the individuals who donated to this project. The sounds of water is so calming when they hear loud noises from the hallways. It reminds them that they can find peace and a time to reflect even during a busy and noisy day. They can imagine nature scenes even in the classroom with the waterfall sound. When we do not have it running, they remind me to put it on. It has become part of our classroom environment and part of our classroom community. It reminds them to stop in the day to rest and regroup before they go to their next class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Coloring for Calmness

    Funded Feb 20, 2022

Thank you so much for the coloring books. They have helped so much to keep the children calm and focused. Coming back from COVID has been hard but these coloring books act as a coping skill. The students know that they are always available to them. They like sharing there works of art with other teachers and their parents. They use them as thank you notes or gratitude notes. They realize that there are ways to calm down and at the same time share their art work with people who support them on a daily basis.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Racial Justice and Representation Sonia Sotomayor is Our Hero

    Funded Sep 6, 2021

When I wrote this project, I didn't know that Sonia Sotomayor would be so much in the current news. WOW. Living in Texas with the vote/law on abortion, Sonia Sotomayor has been very important.

My students are 99 % Hispanic and many are female. They need to know that they can achieve great things/greatness and that it is possible. Hard work and dedication is all you need to find great success. Nothing is impossible. Sonia Sotomayor illustrates that.

We also got a book called Latinitas. How great is it to learn about so many Hispanic women that I did not know before. Even as a Spanish teacher of many years, I learned about so many amazing Hispanic women. I can't wait to share this book with my students.

Thank you again so so much for these wonderful books.”

  • Collaborative Murals

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you so so much for supporting this project. Students get to work together as a team to produce a product. They don't know what the mural will be until the end. Students took pride in the coloring and then when they figured out who the mural was. They wanted to do research on the artist. We cannot assume that students know famous artists and the time period they lived in and how that affected their art. Interdisciplinary projects are the best. The art teacher was so impressed and came in to give a class on the artists and talked about their techniques.

I can't thank you enough for supporting my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

  • Improving Literacy Growth in Your First Language

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for the books. My students needed individual copies to be able to read at home and study at home.

The school was not able to buy individual copies so this was a great gift. The students are low income and they could not buy them either. With the help of all the donors, we can now have individual reading and independent reading at home.

We also were able to buy new books to determine if that will be our next book to read as a class.

Students are able to leave Houston in their imagination and are able to travel to the Amazons. They can learn about other countries and cultures without getting on an airplane.

Thank you again for this great gift.”

  • Make the Classroom Comfortable

    Funded Jun 8, 2021

The students were so excited to see the pretty pink chairs. The students immediately wanted to sit on them. Students have really had anxiety returning to the classroom and it was diminished when they bounce on a chair.

Students get the treat of sitting on the chairs during oral presentations. Normally, students do not want to participate but if they get to sit on a pink chair they suddenly want to participate. In a class of 30, no one complained or said they did not want to present. All students wanted to present and wanted to make their presentations longer. What a change in attitude!! All were positive and ready to present.

Thank you so much for these chairs. We are so grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. P.

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares.
I am finding that when students come back to school from being virtual students they are feeling anxiety and they have a hard time sitting in traditional chairs. These chairs will allow students to enjoy being in the classroom. They need to feel as comfortable as being at home. These new chairs would allow these children to feel comfortable in the classroom and to feel special. They have had to be flexible during this past school year and this would allow them to continue to have that flexibility and give students comfort.
