Through the Eye of a Camcorder
Funded Dec 8, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donations that made it possible for us to receive a Flip Video Camcorder. We have been having so much fun with it!
In Science class we did a play where students portrayed the parts of a plant. We were able to make a video of the play, so students could watch their performances and so that we could share it with parents. We used the video camcorder to help us review school rules. Students recorded themselves demonstrating appropriate school behavior. Their videos were uploaded to the school website so that other classes could use them to review the rules. Other students recorded book talks about their favorite books. We even tried our hand at making multiplication rap videos.
The benefits to my students are immeasurable. They had to use a multitude of skills to complete their video assignments. Such skills as cooperation, critical thinking, public speaking, summarizing, and using multiplication facts to name just a few.
I am very grateful that there are generous donors like all of you out there. Thank you for helping me to enrich my students' lives.”
With gratitude,

Seeing Our World
Funded Oct 10, 2009Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. The books you donated will benefit my students in so many ways. It is helpful to have a wide range of resources available to meet the different abilities and interests of my students. Students are able to practice informational reading skills at their own reading levels.
The books are helping to supplement our science curriculum. The students have enjoyed reading Rocks: Hard, Soft, Smooth, and Rough and If you Find a Rock as we study the changing earth. The books on motion and forces will be very useful when we study forces and motion.
Because of budget shortfalls, I would never have been able to provide these valuable resources to my students. Learning how to use the informational texts will help my students become life long learners.
I am very grateful that there are generous donors like all of you out there. Thank you for helping me to enrich my students' lives. ”
