  • Snacks for Emotional Well Being

    Funded Oct 1, 2023

I hope this letter finds you well. I am a passionate educator and I am reaching out with an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the emotional well-being of our students. Our classroom is more than just a space for learning; it is a community where we strive to nurture not only academic growth but also the emotional resilience of each child.

Unfortunately, budget constraints limit our ability to provide the nutritious snacks that can significantly contribute to our students' emotional well-being. That's where your support comes in. We have identified a selection of snacks that are not only healthy but also delicious, designed to sustain our students' energy levels and foster a positive atmosphere.

Your donation to our Emotional Well-being Snack Initiative will directly enhance the daily lives of our students, promoting a supportive environment where they feel valued and cared for. Together, we can create a space where every child has access to the nourishment they need, empowering them to focus on their studies and build the emotional resilience necessary for a successful future. Your generosity will truly make a difference, and we are grateful for any support you can provide.

Thank you for considering our cause and for being a champion of the well-being of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pat Wong

  • One Snack, Two Snacks, Three Snacks, Go!

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

The excitement that filled the room when these boxes arrived was difficult to contain and I was just as excited as the children! The squeals of delight as they opened the packages and saw the snacks right away was just confirmation that the work on my part and the support and contributions of those of you that made this happen was much more than I could have asked for. I am so full of gratitude to be able to present these items to my students and could not have done so without your support. Thank you for your gift to back caring and comfort to the learning environment!"”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pat Wong

  • Bringing Home the Joy of Learning

    Funded Nov 18, 2022

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give, toward My Sister's Keeper. With the donated gift cards, we have been able to broaden our motivation and give resources to our students that come from low-income families.

Having access to financial support has empowered my students to have positive attitudes and have the feeling that it's okay to dream big and want to complete your projects without feeling that you don't have what you need to complete your dream. The gift cards remind them to go forward with their dream projects and know a community is surrounding them.

Again, thank you for your donation. Our children's faces lit up when gift cards arrived! We thank you that our students have an abundance in school, even though that may not be the case elsewhere."”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Pat Wong

  • ISeeMe Empowered with Racial Justice and Cultural Diversity Lessons

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I submit this impact letter to you for your kindness and willingness to give towards Culturally Relevant Education learnings! With the funds that were donated I have been able to show other educators how to facilitate the Culturally Relevant Education on the four pillar of the NYS CRSE standards and hold discussions on diversity on celebrating individuality development, intellectual development, and criticality on understanding power, equity and anti-oppression that impacts our lives.

As more educators embrace culturally relevant practices to alter the antiquated education system, more and more students, especially students of color, will rise to challenge the inequitable status quo and become agents of social change and transformation. This is the change that cultivates diverse mindsets and cultivates empathy to grow strong caring communities.”

I cannot begin to express the joy that you have given to my school and their graduating class. The graduation-themed celebration during the COVID-19 crisis looks different than normal. It's an emotional time for anyone going through this rite of passage, but for the grads of 2020, it comes with a heightened sense of emotion. Giving this gift, lets our graduates know that they are special to us and graduation commencement is still a milestone that can be celebrated.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of the STEM and Computer Science initiatives, oyster restoration, clean water sustainability and biodiversity of NY Harbor. PS 21 students will conduct monthly STEM trips to monitor oysters and collect scientific data on water quality, oyster growth, and biodiversity. The data will be sent to the NY Harbor Foundation. The bigger the oysters, the cleaner the water around the oysters are getting. After conducting at least six months of field data collection, observations and inferences, Billion Oyster Project students are encouraged to carry out their own applied research projects and share their results with the wider BOP community of scientists, STEM professionals, and volunteers at an Annual STEM Symposium. PS 21 students will record their experiences with the Virtual Reality Gear and stitch together hours of recording to produce a VR experience to be share with our school community and the community at the Annual STEM Symposium, At the Annual STEM Symposium our PS 21 students will show the community a STEM research virtual reality learning experience that educates other community members about clean water sustainability that can be accessed anywhere in the world. Our goal is to donate the VR experience to the Billion Oyster Project, hoping to help their mission of restoring NY Harbor's marine ecosystem’s natural mechanisms for cleaner water and marine greater biodiversity by creating an interactive educational experience.
