Scholastic ART
Funded Aug 30, 2017Thank you so much for donating towards my Scholastic News project. This magazine subscription has made a big difference in my art classes. Students have made a couple of projects already that goes along with the articles they have read. So far 3rd grade has read, and discussed what abstract art is and have created their own Abstract masterpieces. The 4th grade students are currently reading and talking about artworks that are iconic. Soon they will be creating their own Mona Lisa Emoji's which I am sure will look fantastic when they are done! Last but not least, 5th grade is creating their own pop art after reading an article on Andy Warhol and his other pop art friends. Students are beginning to read a lot more in Art class, and I am starting to notice a big difference in their reading skills too. This all could not have been possible without you. Thank you so much for donating towards my project!”

More Technology Needed
Funded Dec 7, 2016Thank you so much for donating towards this project. The students and I really appreciate all you have done for us. Since the supplies has been donated:
- The school photographer has been able to learn how to download pictures onto the computer, she has also been able to watch videos and research more on what she can do with her camera. She is very grateful for these additions, and sends her sincere thanks!
- Almost all students have been able to watch techniques on screen, and art videos and demos to assist in their projects. It has improved their knowledge, techniques, and has been a great teaching resource.
- All students have started working on meditation for their first five minutes of art class to refocus ourselves, sharpen our saw, and bring ourselves to a calm and creative state. The meditation exercise comes from a website called Stop, Breath and Think. Students are asked how they are feeling that day, and the computer generates an exercise to support and heal whatever they are feeling at that time.
- PTA is able to use the computer, and projector for movie nights, and other school events that come up at Westover Hills.
All of us at Westover Hills who have benefited from the computer and projector are extremely thankful. This has been a great addition to our class, and we will continue to utilize these resources in our class. Thank you so much!”

Art Technology Needed
Funded Sep 13, 2016First, let me just say, thank you! Your recent donation means that you understand just how important Art can be to a child. Your generous gift of the Document Camera, Projector Screen and Camera to the Art Department has been already put in to great use, and has drastically changed the dynamic of Art Class.
Since our FIRST Donors Choose got funded we have been able to:
• Start a Photography Club at our Elementary School. I have two students (4th and 5th Grade) who applied and were selected to learned the basics of photography, and have been able to take pictures of most of our recent School Events in school and after.
• Use the camera for our 5th Grade Art Project "What Lifts You Up?" Where students took pictures of themselves posing. Students learned the basics of photography, and the importance and future career options that photography can provide.
• Use the Document Camera to show Kindergarten how to draw different types of lines, shapes, and patterns inside of their Fall Leaf Projects.
Your willingness to help and donate provided 450 students with the opportunity to have new experiences in the art room. That's why you gave, and why we and the kids we serve are full of gratitude for your generosity. Thank you so much for your support!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Eagle
