Learning to Love Reading!
Funded Jan 6, 2023My class of 27 kindergarten student have begun participating in the 100 book challenge. We are already half way to our goal at around 50 books read by each student. Each child is bringing home their colorful book pack filled with books to read for each night of the week. Students are now able to read at school and share these books with their families and read at home too.
The students are extremely excited about their book packs and their goal of reading over 100 books. Their families are excited too as they can see their children building a love of reading at home also. The children are reading and helping each other in class. I have even gotten the students older siblings involved at home by giving them an incentive for helping the kindergartens with reading at home. The siblings are allowed to sign their reading logs that the younger sibling read. In exchange for signing, they pick a small prize from our class prize box weekly.
After each student reads 100 books, they will receive a medal for around their necks and a small desk pet they can keep in their desk or on top of their desk when they are reading. As we surpass our 100 book goal, we will aim to read 200 books with new incentives to read. Thank you very much for supporting our love of reading.”

Hybrid Learning
Funded Jul 24, 2020Each of my students received supplies to be used in their homes in our virtual learning environment. They also received supplies to use in our classroom as we prepare to go back on a hybrid plan in just one week. This is all thanks to you and your generosity. The students loved the bag of supplies I was able to leave on each of their house door knobs when we first started in September. The parents were very thankful and expressed their thanks on class dojo and in text messages to me.
My students were able to use the folders to organize all of their phonics papers that were handed out to them at school for home use. They also use them for their writing to keep their papers organized and ready for use. Their pencils boxes are now filled with individual supplies for each student to use including scissors, glue sticks, pencils, and crayons. There will be no sharing like we usually do because of the current COVID virus.
Their supply boxes are now at school on each of their desks, 6 feet apart, ready for their return to the classroom next week. I am glad that when they come into our new and different environment that they will be excited to have some very nice supplies that will be for them to keep them safe. That is because of you and I thank you!”

Funded Feb 12, 2020My students are now able to use an intervention called Lexia daily. This online intervention program provides differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities in grades pre-k to 5th grade. It is a research prove program.
The program provides explicit and personalize learning in six areas of reading instruction. Lexia targets skill gaps that students need to work on. It gives teachers data and resources for individual students.
Teachers can make small groups to instruct in the areas of weakness. My students enjoy this program because it is structured like a game while monitoring their learning and skills. I can not thank you enough for the tools you have given them to achieve their learning goals.”
