  • Transforming our Library!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

The items in this project have been great additions to the library! Just a few examples: - The puzzle board has made it easier for students to collaborate on our 1000 piece community puzzle.

    - The dinosaur balance challenge gives students an opportunity to engage in hands-on problem-solving while also taking a mental break to destress. Quite a few students have successfully balanced the dinosaurs!

    - The new games are a hit on our Fun Fridays, when students can play games together during lunch time.

It's been helpful to show students that the library is more than a place for books (which is of course still an integral part)-- it's a place for community, learning, enjoyment, and the hub of the school! There's a "high demand" for students to get into the library before school and at lunch-- and this is due to the generosity of donors like you all who support the projects that make the library a dynamic and engaging space for students! So, thank you for your kindness and support! It is making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and one other donor.
  • Stock Our Library's Shelves!

    Funded Nov 26, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my project! Getting additional copies of popular books and replacement copies for lost books helps to make sure our library’s collection meets the needs of our diverse readership. I know these books will fly off the shelves once they arrive!

I am incredibly appreciative of your generosity and kindness!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Making Our Library Exciting & Welcoming

    Funded Nov 24, 2023

Students were so excited about the new table lamps-- they were an instant hit!

Whenever students check out a new book, they get to pick out 1 bookmark for it. So the new bookmarks have been a great addition. Students love the variety they get to choose from.

Having additional copies of our readers' most favorite books has made a difference as well! More students are able to read these popular titles and students who had been waiting several weeks on the holds list were excited to get the new copy!

Your support of our library is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Shrink Our Holds List!

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Within a week of these books arriving, they were all checked out to students who had placed them on hold and had been waiting! They were so excited to receive brand new copies of the books!

It took me a while to be able to capture a photo for this thank you note because the books had been off the shelves nearly continuously! Our readers are so grateful, as am I, for your generous donation of these amazing books. Your support is keeping our readers engaged and excited about books! Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Makerspace for a 21st Century Library!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity!!! I am so grateful to be receiving these new materials that will give students a chance to get creative through Makerspace activities. These new activities will be a great way to grow the library program and get students engaged in hands-on learning! Your support means so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

This classroom project was brought to life by an Anonymous Classroom Supporter and one other donor.
  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Oct 7, 2021

Having STEAM activities has been a great expansion of the library program, and these resources have provided students with dynamic learning opportunities! Students can use these resources during tutorial time, lunchtime and with their classes. It's great to see how these resources can build opportunities for collaboration, groupwork, and community building.

Students were so thrilled to see these materials! They've had fun while using them and are expanding their knowledge at the same time. Having STEAM activities has brought a lot of new faces to the library, too!

Thank you so much for your generosity! I greatly appreciate your support of our library program!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Let the Games Begin!

    Funded Sep 14, 2021

Students reacted with such excitement when they first saw these brand new games in the library! Every Friday is "Fun Friday" at lunchtime in the library, and students can borrow a board game or card game to play. There is a delightful buzz in the library on Fridays now, as students end their week with fun games.

I've noticed new connections among students from sitting together and talking as they play games! I'm looking forward to seeing how the continued "Fun Fridays" will increase these connections, as well as give students a break from the stresses of the school. Thank you for your generous support and care for our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • A Powerful Nonfiction Text to Instill Compassion, Action, & Justice

    Funded Oct 10, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity! With your support, we now have enough copies of Just Mercy (YA adaptation) for it to be a book club option for 8th graders during their nonfiction unit this Spring. This text will help 8th graders get engaged in nonfiction reading, while learning important lessons about the impacts of racial inequality and discrimination and seeing the need for compassion, action, and justice.

Also, I have been featuring this book in our school's Anti-Racist Reading Collection and in book talks, as these copies are available to students for independent reading! Many of the copies have already been checked out and through reading this book, students are able to view reading as a way to learn more about the world around them.

Again, thank you for your support of our library! I am incredibly grateful that this project has been funded so this impactful book can get into students' hands.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • High-interest, Exciting, & Trending Titles for the Iron Horse Library!

    Funded Sep 30, 2020

The books funded by this Donors Choose Project have been amazing additions to the collection! With the weekly curbside pickup, students can still checkout school library books, and these books have been popular reads!

Plus, I've been able to feature these books in various displays -- the "Just In Our Library" collection, Book of the Week, YA Wednesday, and also the 2020 Best of the Best Book Awards reading challenge!

I've heard from several students who have really enjoyed books from this funded project and are getting more engaged with reading! This is all due to your generosity. Thank you so much for supporting the library!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin

  • Chromebooks for Research and Collaboration!

    Funded Oct 10, 2018

It has been incredibly helpful to have access to Chromebooks in my classroom. My students are able to develop crucial researching skills when writing papers, investigate historical events, and even record podcasts! All of this has allowed students be engaged and active learners in the classroom.

I am so grateful for your generosity in donating Chromebooks to my classroom. It has been difficult to share technology across classrooms, so having daily access to Chromebooks in my classroom has allowed me to expand students learning opportunities. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Martin
