The materials in this project will enhance student learning by providing them a seating option that suits their individual needs. Traditional classroom seats and desks can be rigid and confining and ultimately uncomfortable, which could limit student engagement and learning. Offering alternative seating such as stools, yoga balls, comfy carpets, and the option to not sit at all enables students to engage in learning more. Selecting the best seat in the house should not be limited to sporting events, plays, concerts and movies. Just as the members of a family have different "go to" seats in their home, students in a classroom should have a preference of where they like to sit. High top tables will attend to the needs of students who prefer to stand by offering them access to a desk without straining their backs. A soft rug allows students to stretch out with clipboards to study or work. Stools are excellent options that can easily be arranged to fit individual and group projects. Flexible seating is ultimately a way to create an environment that is conducive for student engagement, learning, and productivity.
