Bonkers for Books
Funded Dec 1, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. The books have made a huge impact on my guided reading instruction and overall student engagement. I use the books for small group instruction, based on the students' reading level. Depending on the students, we work on skills such as using the pictures and first letter as a clue, sounding out cvc words, and decoding words by breaking them into chunks. Prior to this donation, in order to get multiple copies of the same leveled book, I would often have to print out books in black and white and staple them together. The lack of color and poor quality of the books were not engaging. It's amazing how something as simple as a high quality book can make my students grateful and excited to read. Since we received our gift, the majority of my students have grown 2-4 reading levels, and it's really spectacular to continue to watch them grow into blooming readers.”

Fun While Learning: Supplies for Literacy Centers
Funded Jan 8, 2017Thank you so much for your generosity. Due to your kindness, my students' engagement during our literacy centers have been greatly heightened. The magnetic letters have become a regular material during center and guided reading. We use them for building word families, cvc words, and letter matching, and it allows my scholars to enhance their literacy knowledge in a more kinesthetic way. The sight word activity center is a special treat and the kids get so excited every time I take it out. Having that level of excitement over using the materials automatically heightens their engagement, and thus the amount that they get out of their independent learning time. My students and I thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.”

Comfortable Seating For Community Building
Funded Sep 14, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation that allowed our class to enjoy a comfortable rug. We utilize the rug everyday during morning meeting and for instruction. Every morning, we start our day in a circle on the rug, to greet each other and share. We also use the rug when we listen to stories and learn new skills. The rug provides such an amazing spot for us to build our community as a classroom. The kids were so excited and thankful when they got to experience the rug for the first time, and it's made a huge difference in my students' ability to sit and focus.”
