Our Math Department
Funded Nov 24, 2024Your incredible support in funding new whiteboards for my high school mathematics classroom has made an immediate and lasting impact on my students' learning experience. The ability to work through problems on clean, clear surfaces has transformed our daily lessons, allowing students to better visualize complex mathematical concepts and actively participate in problem-solving. Your contribution directly enhances the quality of education for hundreds of students who pass through my classroom each year.
These whiteboards have already become an essential tool in fostering collaborative learning and student engagement. Students are now more eager to share their work, demonstrate different solution methods, and help their peers understand challenging concepts. The confidence I see building in my students as they work through problems on these new boards is truly remarkable – they're more willing to take risks and learn from their mistakes, which is essential in mathematics education.
Your generosity extends far beyond the physical materials you've provided; you've invested in the future of our students and demonstrated that our community values their education. The impact of your donation will continue to benefit students for years to come, helping to build strong foundations in mathematics that will serve them throughout their academic careers and beyond. Thank you for believing in our students and supporting their educational journey.”

Problem Solving with Games
Funded Aug 27, 2016My problem solving class loved playing the Connect Four games. We had a two day tournament that ended with an epic battle to find a winner. They learned a ton and enjoyed putting away their laptops and getting to play a game.
Students were so excited to open the brand new materials, and were careful to ensure that everything was set up and put back nicely. My other classes ask every time they see the games when they will get to play.
After we finished our tournament we continued to study games and what it means for a game to be "solved." We watched a video from numberphile and thought about other games we'd love to play.”
