The material I am requesting for my classroom is a large 9 x 12 plush carpet. It may seem very vague, but something simple as carpet can enthusiastically excite children about learning because it makes the environment more comfortable. The classroom has a big open space and the front of the classroom is the focal point where I do my lessons and do interactive read aloud with my students. This flex-comfy carpet would fit perfect in the area , so students would not have to sit on the hard floors. Students at this particular age need to move around and engage with their peers in different areas of the classroom and the carpet area would provide a nice meeting place for them, as well as student engagement within all subject areas. My students also love reading chapter books and often love going into the reading center because it has a small carpet area and comfortable pillows where they can relax and spend time reading for enjoyment, which also helps build reading stamina for testing. I feel having an extra large comfy carpet would allow my students to have an optional place to read as well.
