Giving options versus forced seating arrangements will foster independent thinking and learning amongst my scholars. The ability to choose where they learn throughout the day will give them a sense of ownership and responsibility in the classroom. Allowing students to move around and not be confined to a desk is an optimal learning experience, especially for those with behavior issues and those who are easily distracted. Throughout the day I find my students antsy or agitated. Although we utilize programs which allow movement at times, they ultimately end up back at their desk. I want to provide my students choices of tables, stools and pillows, something they don't often get.
