  • Hands in the Sand: Letter and Word Tracing

    Funded Apr 13, 2023

This is so exciting! Thank you for your kind and generous help! My students get to have experiences and resources that they would not otherwise have access to. Donors Choose is an amazing program for educators, but nothing would be possible without donors like you! Thank you from all of us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crowley

  • Creative Cricut in the Classroom

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

We want to thank you very much for our amazing new Cricut Maker 3. This tool is already helping us with classroom projects, student learning and grade level activities. The students were so excited when our new Cricut machine arrived. I explained to them how it worked and they were fascinated. We have already used some of the images that are available to make bulleting board cutouts, and to decorate a grade level holiday tree. The machine will also be used to customize learning materials for our intervention groups in both math and reading. This tool has endless possibilities and has made the teachers' jobs much easier and increased our creativity.”

  • I’M Safe! I’M Learning!

    Funded Oct 9, 2020

As we left our classrooms last March, we were told to expect a 2-week closure. Here, almost a year later, we are still teaching and learning remotely in our district. Since this school year began in September, we have had many plans for return announced and changed. As a teacher I have tried to be prepared for any possible plan, and requesting our supplies in "I'm Safe! I'm Learning!" was part of that preparation. As of now, my students have not had an opportunity to use and enjoy the generously donated materials, but even as I write this, there is discussion happening about a return to the classroom before the end of the year. We may yet need these important supplies, so I thank all of our donors for their support in these strange, unpredictable times! It means so much to know that educators have hands at our back as we navigate all the aspects of remote learning. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crowley

  • The Power of Paper and Pencils

    Funded Mar 17, 2020

I can’t thank you enough for caring and sharing generously at this very unique time!

When we return to class, these supplies will be indispensable. My students will be so excited and lucky to have these great tools. I can’t wait to make materials and not have to worry about where I will get the paper!”

    Mrs. Crowley

  • 21st Century E-Learning

    Funded Nov 28, 2019

Thank you for your incredibly generous donations that allowed us to get our new Chromebooks. This has given my students in my Resource Room the ability to access some amazing blended learning programs for math and ELA. In addition, they have helped me to offer greater differentiation to my students through online tools such as Google Classroom. Since I also received the licensing certificate, I was able to have my Resource Room Chromebooks formatted the same exact way that the other school Chromebooks are formatted. This allows my students to use these for testing purposes, as well as classroom learning. Your kind donations have made a huge impact on my little room!

    Thank you!”

  • Bright Lights, Big Learning

    Funded Jan 10, 2020

Thank you so much for coming to our rescue! We rely so much on our projector that it has been devastating to not have one. The kids are so excited that we will be able to get back to our regular routines in reading, writing and math!

Your kindness and generosity mean so much!!”

  • Looking Through a Learning Lens

    Funded Apr 22, 2018

Our new document camera is such an amazing tool for our classroom! The document camera projects whatever you put under the lens onto the screen or white board. In the old days, we had transparency projectors, but you couldn't project a book or regular page. This tool helps my students see exactly what they need to in order to be successful! I can project a read aloud and it allows everyone great visual access to the illustration, as well as seeing the text while I read. For pencil and paper tasks, I can work right along with them while demonstrating a concept or strategy.

Thank you for your generous support, providing my students with the best resources for learning!”

  • Curling Up With a Good Book!

    Funded May 9, 2018

We are so excited for our new benches! The students will really be able to curl up with a good book. With your generosity, you are not only helping to build my classroom, but helping to build a love of reading and building young minds!

Thanks so much for all you do!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crowley

  • Painting Our Way to Literacy

    Funded Jan 25, 2018

We are so grateful for the art materials that were donated to our class!

The students are using these materials for a special writing program that allows them to paint a picture first and then write about it. As soon as I attended the professional development class for the program, I knew this was perfect for my group. We often use drawing as part of the writing process as it gives the students a concrete, visual place to begin.

The students were so excited to see the new watercolor paints, the mini easels and the watercolor paper. They love that the paints have 16 color choices and they feel like expert painters when they blend colors together to make something unique! We use the easels to prop

up our paintings when writing, so that we can really feel the pictures. The students have produced some amazing writing thanks to the program and to these great materials.

Thank you for helping my students connect to their creativity and feel like artists and writers!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Crowley

  • Help Us Project Our Learning on the Big Screen!

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

The donation of our Epson projector has had a big impact on my Resource Room! In no time at all, it became a major component of our daily routine. By presenting, work, videos, pictures, etc. in a large format, right on our white board, the students are able to interact with the curriculum in a way that just wasn't possible previously. I can project phonics sorts, math problems, word banks, writing prompts, and sentence starters right where the students need them. The use of visual technology is key with students who have learning disabilities. We use the projector during every single lesson!

One of the most engaging and exciting aspects of the projector for the students is our regular use of movement breaks, specifically the Go Noodle site. We start our day off with some energy building movement and use stretching, meditation, mindfulness, or movement videos throughout the day as needed.

The students are already incredibly attuned to the use of the projector and know the routines better than I do sometimes! The use of the projector has been particularly useful for my students with attention challenges. Those movement breaks are a lifesaver! Also, doing a math problem with the assistance of the projector somehow seems less intimidating (and more interesting) than doing it on paper to my entire math group. In addition, I have an autistic student who sometimes does not want to participate, but the use of a projected activity is very motivating and engaging to him.”

    Mrs. Crowley

Students with learning disabilities frequently have stronger visual learning skills than auditory learning skills. In addition, many of our students are English Language Learners and need visuals to enhance vocabulary acquisition. Having this projector would allow us to interact with our learning by putting it right on the white board. The projector will be used in my room daily for phonics, writing and math groups. Students can have visual support for stories, watch educational and movement videos (GoNoodle) videos, and see examples of math concepts right in front of them. We have found that using these projectors as part of daily instruction increases student engagement and mastery of concepts.
