  • Chromebook Licenses & Audio Books for Listening Station

    Funded Sep 30, 2021

I would like to thank you for your donation to our chromebook license and audio books for listening station project. My students have been able to use the chromebooks for several weeks now. Some of their favorite websites and apps include Xtra Math and Starfall.

In addition, the listening station in our classroom has been enhanced by your donation towards purchasing new books. This station is one of my students' favorites. They look forward to listening and following along with the stories. Audio books are also a great way to help increase a child's reading level and fluency.

Thank you again for your kindness and generosity in donating to our Donors Choose projects. It is greatly appreciated and the kids are benefitting from your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mbuu

  • Chromebooks: Expanding Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls

    Funded Sep 25, 2021

I would like to update and thank you for your generous donation towards our classroom chromebook project. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my school has very limited access to technology, specifically chromebooks in the classroom. Since the arrival of the two new chromebooks last month, my students have been enjoying using them during our independent learning station time, as well as during reading and math time.

My first graders especially love using the website called Xtra Math. Using their personal account, they can practice math facts that are designed specifically for them. Through repeated drill and practice, my students have been improving in their speed and consistency with math facts.

Another website that my students are enjoying is called Starfall. Starfall is an early learning website that features interactives, games, songs and resources for reading and math. It is very user friendly, allowing the students to navigate it without help from the teacher.

In the future, I am planning to teach my students how to use the chromebooks to record themselves reading. This will help my students to self-reflect on their reading fluency and accuracy, with the hope of improving their progress.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mbuu

  • I can't hear you, Mrs. Mbuu!

    Funded Oct 16, 2020

I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to my project. Thanks to you, my students won't struggle to hear me through my mask. They can also share their answers with the rest of the class in such a fun way. This means the world to us!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mbuu

  • Mobile Learning in 1st Grade

    Funded Aug 11, 2019

Thank you very much for your generous donation towards our mobile learning project! I am so thrilled with this piece of furniture for my students. I use it many times throughout the day for a variety of lessons, such as sight word practice, charting responses to stories, and displaying posters and projects.

The best part is that after we use it whole group, I can move it anywhere in the room. I have found that my special needs students are especially benefiting from having this visual aide and being able to access it in multiple settings.

We can't thank you enough for your kindness in donating to this project that is impacting student learning both this year and for many years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mbuu

Having a mobile whiteboard in the classroom would help to transform how I teach my students! Currently, I have one small whiteboard at the front of my room. While it is great to have this space, it is static and insufficient for the different kinds of learning that take place in our room. Instruction in my classroom is never in one place! At times, we are learning together with whole group instruction on the carpet. Other times, I work with smaller groups at a table or designated area. In addition, my students are often asked to take and transfer that learning from one area to another. A mobile whiteboard would not only make it easier to move from one learning setting to another, but also give my students a way to transfer that prior learning with ease. Thank you for your consideration in donating to this project!
