Teach, Create and Motivate...with TECHNOLOGY!
Funded Feb 15, 2019My class and I would like to thank you all for your generous donation! With your donation, we were able to purchase a new iPad for our class. This purchase has revolutionized our learning and has engaged some of my most reluctant learners! The iPad is used on a daily basis during our center rotations. Students are using the iPad to listen to science podcasts, to complete independent reading, and as well as using it to practice sight words. Students are also able to access our school's reading curriculum via the device and I have seen their reading levels improve tremendously!
These days, it is imperative that students have access to technology. Unfortunately, in our school, not all students have access to technology at home. It is extremely important that they have access at school to build the skills they will need later in life to succeed. Students have been most excited about reading on the iPad! Students will partner read and take quizzes together. Some have even taken the initiative to create quizzes on their own!
It has been so amazing to see my reluctant readers become increasingly more motivated in the classroom and excited about reading and learning. Your donation has made learning much more accessible and engaging in our classroom. I know that each of my 2nd and 3rd graders is eternally grateful for your donation, as am I. Thank you for making a difference in education!”

Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader!
Funded Oct 25, 2018I cannot express enough gratitude and appreciation for the books that my students received from you. Each and every book brought joy and excitement to my students and we use them every day. These books have ignited a new love of reading and high levels of engagement in the classroom. Many of my students do not have the resources or opportunity to read engaging texts at home. They look forward to coming to school and sprawling across our carpet to get lost in a book. Thanks to you, they now have endless access to high quality literature.
With these books, students have learned how to annotate text and have academic conversations around the annotations. They have also used these books as mentor texts, which sparks inspiration for them as authors. We have learned about writer's craft and studied the way that author's write books, including the different techniques used in writing. Many of the students have transferred these techniques into their own writing, which is incredible to watch unfold.
Thank you for contributing to the magic of reading and learning!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Guerrero

Funded Dec 29, 2017As a new teacher, I had a limited book selection in my classroom library. This funded project has allowed my students to be exposed to a wider variety of books and given them the freedom of choice! Many of the books that we chose were informational text. I have a group of students that thoroughly love and enjoy learning and I wanted to foster that through reading. We have practiced a variety of reading skills with these books, such as learning about text feature and structure! They even created their own nonfiction books about an animal of choice!
I am lucky to have such a responsible and bright group of students this year. That being said, they can be trusted to read in a "cozy spot" of their choice in the room. If you walk into my classroom during independent reading time, you will see students sprawled out on the carpet, laying under tables, huddled in a corner, and of course some sitting at their seats. They always have their reader's response journals so that they can respond to their reading and "talk with the text".
Many of my students have enjoyed reading our new books! Some of them have even created their own "reading club" that meets during lunch recess! It has been so refreshing to see students taking charge of their learning and taking initiative to make time for independent reading. We have done a daily read loud with a picture book since the first day of school, and my students have created a goal to read all of our picture books by the end of the year (including the new ones)! So wish us luck, and thank you for making this "literature-rich" classroom a dream come true!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Guerrero
