Our classroom is known throughout our building for the art projects that we create! I am so blessed to have the materials necessary to include art as one of my main learning tools. Our art projects are always tied to our learning for the week and are used as a way for the students to demonstrate their learning and knowledge. Your generous gift means we can continue doing art projects daily and weekly for the rest of this year and for years to come!

Computing in Kindergarten!
Funded Nov 10, 2011Thank you for giving my students a new laptop for our classroom. This additional computer allows more students to use technology to improve and enhance their learning. We have access to some great educational software and now more students can spend more time on that software. It's great seeing my kids so excited to play such educational software. Thank you for providing them the tools to learn and succeed.
Another great benefit of our new laptop is that the teacher is able to use it to plan and create engaging, hands on, meaningful lessons and materials.
This laptop has improved every aspect of our classroom and will continue to provide a powerful and fun learning tool.

i Think. i Kindergarten. iPad
Funded Dec 12, 2011Thank you so much for providing my class with an IPad2. The reaction my students had when I opened the box was priceless. It just so happened that the IPAD arrived on the 100th day of school so they thought we had gotten our IPad as a 100th day of school present!
We have created a schedule so that everyone gets at least 2 chances to use the IPAD every week. We use the Ipad for sight word practice, making sentences, sound recognition, handwriting, numbers, adding and of course we have lots of fun with the camera. In fact, our IPad is so popular that other teachers send their students to our Kindergarten room to see us using the IPad. It even inspired a class to decorate their door to look like an IPad for our recent door decorating contest!
We use an app that teaches the students sight words and when they get it correct, it praises them. "You are awesome!" I can't tell you how excited they get when they are praised by the Ipad. All day long I hear them tell their friends that they IPad thinks they're awesome! It's an incredible motivator for them to learn their sight words!
This has already become an amazingly powerful learning tool! I look forward finding more and better ways for the students to use this tool and hopefully look forward to being able to get more of these!

Scanning For Great Work!
Funded Sep 9, 2011Thank you so much for providing my classroom with a printer and scanner! This has quickly become a very useful tool for me and the students. It provides opportunities for the students to make copies of their work and their art to take home, it allows me the opportunity to scan students work and writing and keep a digital copy on file and it has allowed me to make an extra copy or replace someone's damaged sheet or work. It is a must have in my classroom!
The printer, ink and paper have also provided the resources to create wonderful and meaningful learning centers for the students to practice their reading, writing and math skills.
It is so enjoyable to watch the kids as they watch the printer awaiting their stuff to print out. They are fascinated by the printer. And I am fascinated by the generosity and kindness that you have shown me and my students. Your kindness inspires me to a better teacher each day!

Funded Apr 25, 2011Thank you for providing these books to my classroom. I am very lucky to have kids who have a desire to read. All they want to do is read from their book bags and read in our every expanding class library. Your generous gift provides my students with even more leveled books to read. These books will push my students to become even better readers and writers.
My kids especially love these books because the characters in the books look like them. This is so huge when it's hard to find books that my students can relate too. They love reading books and seeing kids who look like them. It's quite funny when you hear them say that the characters in the book like their cousin or some other family member. Never fails to make me laugh.

In just 9 weeks of Kindergarten, my students are already writing sentences. And not just sentences, but sentences using words such as "fabulous." This is a direct result of the resources you provided to us. Once my students heard that people cared about them and wanted them to be successful, they took the paper, journals, books, pencil grips and pens and began writing. They were truly inspired to become young authors. This would not have happened without the resources you so generously provided.
I am very excited to see how their writing develops over the course of the school year. I have very high expectations for my students and look forward to seeing them exceed those expectations.
