I would like to create a classroom literacy center. With the tablets, students will have access to online educational sites and resources on a daily basis. This will provide students with the opportunity for exposure of vocabulary, varied levels of reading comprehension, phonemic awareness and phonics. We use online programs such as iReady and STMath. We do not have enough computers in our class to service everyone. The tablets will be used in a literacy center where students will rotate at 20 minute intervals, during our literacy block, to use the tablets. With the use of technology, students will increase their reading, comprehension skills and their love of reading. Students will have the opportunity to access materials at their reading level. This will increase their fluency, comprehension, reading stamina, and confidence. Each student will be able to use the technology at least three times a week. This will show significant growth in our reading data.
