  • Flexible Seating Options For Inclusive Kindergarten Classroom

    Your kindness and generosity was the brightest spot of an otherwise trying day. As I sat in my classroom, reflecting on the amount of energy that we poured into our determined scholars, I glanced through my email and received notice that our project was funded, the news immediately put a smile on my face!!!! I have been practicing random kindness this month in my own personal life, but your random act of kindness took the cake!!!! Our students will be amazed at our comforting new learning environment when they return from Thanksgiving break.”

Research shows that students learn best and are highly motivated to learn in a classroom that provides multiple options for learning in terms of work choice, student grouping arrangements, and yes, even seating arrangements. When children are given the opportunity to choose what they will learn, how they learn best, and where they work best, they perform at their best levels! Teachers across America are redesigning their classrooms to offer flexible seating options that release students from the limited option of traditional desk and chair seating. Couches, exercise balls, bean bags, rocking chairs, and crates are replacing the traditional chairs and increasing creativity and engagement amongst students all over the country. The wobble chairs will help students who need frequent movement to increase stimulation and attendance. The reading pillows will help provide an alternate reading spot for students who benefit from a private, non stimulating area to focus. Furthermore, the backpatter's seats and the comfy pillows will offer even more options for learning in a low stimulating or high stimulating environment. With over twenty-three students in the classroom, the multiple seating options will ensure that the diverse needs of each students are easily met in the comfort of their own classroom!
