Ospreys: Soaring Together in Social-Emotional Learning
Funded Feb 5, 2024I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation towards purchasing social-emotional learning materials for my students. Your support has had a profound impact on their social and emotional growth and I am so incredibly thankful for your generosity.
These materials have helped students open up about their emotions, learn skills to overcome challenges, and create a space for them to feel comfortable and safe talking about difficult topics. Incorporating books about mental health allows for students to better understand their emotions and know they are not alone in their struggles. They have loved using the games and activities to practice using appropriate social skills with their peers. These materials have helped us foster an environment where students feel comfortable exploring their emotions and developing coping skills in a fun and engaging way.
Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. Your support is truly making a difference in the lives of my students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Miller

Funded Sep 5, 2016Dear Donors,
Thank you very much for your support and generosity in helping to provide students with books and materials to aid in their social skills learning. These donated books have helped students to better understand concepts such as self-esteem, growth mindset, anxiety, and problem-solving.
The book "Don't Squeal Unless It's a Big Deal" has been particularly useful during the past few weeks as I have gone into our three kindergarten classrooms to help them learn the difference between a "big deal" and a "kid-sized problem". This helps reduce the amount of tattling that occurs within the classroom and strengthens students' ability to problem-solve independently.
The Yoga 4 Classrooms card kit has proved to be a useful tool to help fourth graders learn strategies to self-regulate their emotions. Throughout the entire school year, I will be teaching fourth grade students different yoga poses they can do at their desk, the power of deep breathing, and visualization. These cards are great visual tools to aid in teaching these lessons.
"Rosie Revere Engineer" has been one of the best books to help teach students about growth mindset. Students are able to see how Rosie did not give up on her dreams of being a great engineer, even when her inventions proved unsuccessful. Students were able to share stories about their own dreams and aspirations, and how they plan to achieve those goals.
These are just three examples of how these resources have positively impacted my students. It has been wonderful to have these books to aid in class lessons and small group discussions. Students can learn, grow, and connect with the characters in these stories - none of which would be possible without your support. Thank you again for your donation.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Miller
