Coney Island Kids Meet Mermaids on Parade Author

We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity in donating the Coney Island Mermaids on Parade book written by Melanie Hope Greenberg for our elementary school. We apologize for the delayed date of this thank-you note, however the books are so popular that they were on back-order for several weeks before we received them - but they are certainly worth the wait! The illustrations are fantastic and the kids cannot put the books down. Melanie's drawings have inspired our kids to draw their own pictures of the Coney Island boardwalk and the Astroland theme park. It is especially timely because we have a walk/run along the boardwalk in early June and a trip for the older students to the Wonder Wheel park in two weeks.

The book is so engaging and lively that the children have asked to read more of the author's works, which we will indeed try to order for them. Our students also enjoyed reading about all the characters in the parade and seeing all the different floats and recognizing landmarks such as Nathan's along the boardwalk.

We sincerely appreciate your act of giving and please know that this means so much to young children who are struggling to learn how to read as well as those who read fluently and enjoy an entertaining, colorful and humorous storybook. ”
