Breakout the Boxes and Teamwork!
Funded Mar 29, 2017My students had so much fun with the first Breakout box. Students had to use collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. The students were so incredibly engaged and could not wait to see what was coming next. Students worked in smaller groups within their class, and then would come back together whole group to try to unlock one of the combinations. It was so amazing to see the engagement and teamwork happening. As soon as we finished our first game, students were already asking when we could complete another game. I love that the games are easily accessible and that I have all the supplies already. Thanks again!”

Funded Feb 21, 2017Thank you so much for your donations. With the new color printer, students are so excited to create projects. While the iPad is engaging to students, knowing that they can now print (in color!) and display their work is even more exciting. Students have printed goals on Comic Life, informational papers (with pictures and captions) in Google Docs, and are currently working on Greek Mythology projects, which I know will prompt students to ask if they can use the new printer. Thanks again for your donation that makes my students even more excited to create projects.”

Growing with Graphic Novels
Funded Feb 23, 2017Thank you so much for the amazing donations. My students were so incredibly excited when we received the books. These books have reached all levels of readers in my classroom. With the graphic novels, my struggling readers have been engaged and are finally feeling confident as they race through the new books. They also love to see that they are reading and understanding some of the same books with their peers. My higher readers have become very engaged with The Middle School series. The series is funny, relatable, and makes the kids feel older than they really are :) With students getting at least 40-45 minutes a day to independently read, these books have added a new excitement to the classroom. Thanks again!”

Succeed with Storyworks
Funded Dec 3, 2016Thank you so much for the Storyworks subscription! The students have had opportunities to view the hard copy and to read the magazine online. We have used the magazines to increase our informational text knowledge by finding main ideas of passages, summarizing, looking for text structure, and discussing the text features. When students first viewed the magazines, they were overwhelmed by all the topics covered. They spent nearly an hour reading and discussing our first issue and are always so excited when they see the new issue in the mail. Thanks to all the donors for providing such a wonderful, engaging magazine to the kids!”

Funded Dec 22, 2016My students are thrilled with these graphic novels! They love graphic novels so much, and these are no different. As soon as I put the books out to display in the classroom, they instantly noticed them and became excited. We did a 2 minute book tasting of each book and the kids had so much fun and wanted to spend more time on each book. After the book tasting, students had the opportunity to sign up for for the books. Currently all the books are checked out! I know these books will increase comprehension and confidence in all readers! Thanks so much!”
