  • Hands on Manipulative and Resources for Special Education Math Class

    Funded Sep 2, 2022

Thank you for your generous donation! With the Algebra Tiles, students could learn more difficult concept of factoring by hands-on approach. Special Needs Students require a multi-modality approach in learning. Hands-on manipulative are crucial to their success in math classes!

We greatly appreciate your donation! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Chan

  • Hands-on Demonstration

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you for your generosity! Our classroom received the IPEVO document camera and was able to illustrate Geometry concepts in greater details.

IPEVO V4K Pro could be used as "Plug and Play". The document camera feature could be used without downloading software. This is very important as teachers could not download software onto the school computers. The school IT person will not allow other downloads that are used for all teachers. Now students could use the camera to display solutions and look at diagrams in greater details.

We greatly appreciate your donations! Thank you!”

  • Materials Needed for Highly Motivated Students

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for your generous donations!

From time to time our school run out of paper for teachers to make copies for students. Thanks to your generosity, students will not miss out due to not having paper in our school.

Part of our classroom uses dry erase board. From time to time, the residue of the dry erase marker may smudge which makes it difficult to read from the board. Thanks to your donation on the dry erase cleaning spray, students will be able to read the board more clearly.

Lastly the USB ports allow for our classroom to view powerpoint presentations more effectively. As a teacher I could move around the classroom and still be able to control which slides to view without being next to the computer. We were able to connect a wireless remote with the USB ports. The clear sheet protectors also allow us to organize our handouts more efficiently.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Chan

  • Paper Folding and Graphing in Math Class

    Funded Nov 19, 2019

Because of your generous donation, our class received sets of Origami papers to be used in our Geometry classroom. With origami papers we were able to fold the analyze relationships between each fold. We were able discuss theorems that associate with triangles and quadrilaterals. Students had a great time as origami paper serves as hands on materials for the students.

The class also receive books on how to fold certain shapes. The books are valuable as it provided students step by step instruction on how to fold. The detail diagrams also allowed for the class to have an in depth discussions.”

  • Let's Get Organized for a New School Year!

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Our classroom received a new utility cart to support a new projector for the classroom. In the past, we've used Smartboard in the classroom. Unfortunately the Smartboard projector projects images really dim. Students have a difficult time reading notes on the board. Now with a new utility cart, we could use the projector so the students could read and understand notes on the board.

Along with the projector, we also have a document camera that we use in class. The utility cart was able to hold the projector and the document camera. Because of the utility cart, students are now excited to use the document camera to present their solutions in the classroom.

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Chan

  • Fall 2021 .... New Beginning for In-Person Instruction

    Funded Aug 11, 2021

Our classroom received a new projector to project classroom computer screen onto the blackboard. In the past, we've used Smartboard in the classroom. Unfortunately the Smartboard projector projects images really dim. Students have a difficult time reading notes on the board. Now with a new projector, students could read and understand notes on the board.

The best product we received is the document camera. Before the document camera, students will come up to the board and write their solutions. In Geometry, we looked at many different diagrams. We will need to mark up diagrams in the solutions as well. The document camera allows students and teachers to project handwritten notes on the board. In addition, complex diagrams could be projected on the board so the class could analyze how to mark up the diagrams.

Students are excited for the new document camera as they don't need to write too much on the board and yet they could still present their solutions. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Chan

  • Geometric Models and Graph Charts for Math Classroom

    Funded Sep 22, 2019

Thank you for your generosity of Magnetic Graphs and Geometric Shapes for our classroom. Students are very grateful and greatly appreciate your generosity.

We are able to use the Magnetic graphs to display student graph solutions on board with confidence. Before the Magnetic Graphs, students will need to draw blank x-, y-axis without grids and sketch their graphs base on blank grids. This makes it difficult for students to specifically locate the coordinate points.

Now with the Magnetic Graphs students could easily locate the location of the coordinate points without sketching the "grids" of the graph. Students could spend more time on focusing Geometry concepts and answer questions without worrying where the coordinate points are on a blank board. The Geometric Shapes are a great way to introduce students 3-D shapes without drawing on the board. Students also get a chance to "see" and "feel" the difference between the shapes.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Diana Chan

What is the best way to learn about the properties of Parallelograms? Paper Folding will be the answer. Paper folding provide students hands on experience to "see" why certain segments and angles are congruence. Students will be able to use the theorems learned in class and apply to paper folding. Not only paper folding is hands on, students could also put their theories to test by "folding" paper and see if the lengths or angles are indeed congruent. Rich conversations would come up from paper folding. Students will be very tempted to say angles are congruent by looking at it, but now with a paper model in front of them, students will be challenged to explain how to "prove" it with your paper model. The GeoSolid models will be a great tool to show students "visually" how a certain 3-D shape is. Not only do students get to "see" how it looks like, students also have a chance to "count" the edges from the 3-D model. This will be an excellent tool for teaching Geometry.
