Etching Without Chemicals
Funded Mar 27, 2018Student are producing some tremendous works of art thanks to the access to high quality printmaking materials. Rather than having to use dangerous chemical etching materials, we have been able to use water soluble printing inks that produce beautiful, sharp images.
When students first accessed these inks and plates, they were amazed with how much detail they were able to capture in their prints. In the past, water based inks have run, leaving their work blotchy and disappointing. Now, the hard work they put into etching is meat with a product that reflects their effort. This would not be possible without you!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Birk

Funded Oct 26, 2017Your tremendous gift has been a boon for our sculpture lessons. Working in three dimensions is a valuable skill that often has to be overlooked because of budgetary constraints. Your gift is helping to unlock the creative minds of the future.
In class, we are using the clay to produce both realistic and abstract figures. We are able to discuss how artists use forms to convey movement in still objects as well as how forms can create specific feelings in the viewer.
They clay provided is a type that will last for years to come. From creating clay sculptures to building molds for plaster casting, a diversity of methods will be used.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Birk
