THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! You all have made our learning dreams come true. These books are going to motivate my students so much more! They already LOVE independent reading time. Just wait until I tell them all about the new books we will be getting for our classroom library. They are going to be blown away! Thank you for allowing my students to have a classroom library full of diversity and characters who they are able to identify and connect with. THANK YOU so much for supporting my class! Your donation will have a lasting impression on the hearts of my students.”

  • Beyond Our Classroom

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

These iPads are versatile devices which have positively impact my students' learning. They are instrumental in captivating my students' attention, motivating them to learn, and capitalizing on their strengths and interests. They use these iPads to learn new academic skills, reinforce learned skills during learning stations and allow them to see the rest of the world. The iPads also provided my students with experiences that have positively impact their technological efficiency throughout their academic lives. We are striving to ignite learning in our 21st century class through current technology for all students.

Most children today have access to cell phones, tablets, and computers. But, sadly that is for many of my students. Some students' first contact with this type of technology is at school. With these iPads the possibilities for learning are virtually limitless!”

    With gratitude,

  • WANTED 4 Chairs for Book Nook -- Last Seen - Amazon

    Funded Jul 6, 2019

Thank you so very much for supporting my project! During the independent practice of Readers Workshop, students use leveled books to practice a newly learned reading strategy, and work on improving both their comprehension and fluency skills. After a modeled lesson, the children go to their favorite reading spots with pillows and now the comfy chairs and "Have a Go" practicing the reading strategy on their own. When they sit in the chairs they are also reading for sheer enjoyment. The cozy chairs have made reading fun for them! You have given them a wondrous opportunity to continue their journey as growing readers and not view reading as a chore. Your generous donation shows my students that people do care about their education and want them to succeed. Thank you for caring!”

    With gratitude,

  • Ready for Reading

    Funded Jan 1, 2017

Thank you so very much for supporting my project! During the independent practice of Readers Workshop, students use leveled books to practice a newly learned reading strategy, and work on improving both their comprehension and fluency skills. We begin the year working on strategies like Schema, Making Meaningful Connections and Asking and Answering Questions, Next we move onto Visualization, Summarizing, Inferring, and Figurative Language. After a modeled lesson using mentor texts, the children go to their favorite reading spots and "Have a Go" practicing the strategy on their own. During individual conferencing, we discuss their individual strengths and enhancements as well as checking for their understanding of the strategy/skill. As the year progresses, so does their reading level, Since our school does not have a library, your donation has not only provided my students access to these leveled books, but also a wondrous opportunity to continue their journey as growing readers. Your generous donation shows my students that people do care about their education and want them to succeed. Thank you for caring!”

  • Third Grade Dreamers, Scholars, Explorers, and Problem Solvers!

    Funded Dec 20, 2016

Your donations have had a huge impact on my students lives! These children are our future, and despite the many challenges they face, they enter the classroom full of smiles, dreams, and a strong desire to learn. Most of my students started off the year 1-2 years below grade level. Unfortunately our school does not have a library, and our children have

little access to books at home. The Chromebooks that were purchased with you generous donation allow them the use a wonderful reading program called Read Theory on a daily basis. This program is a powerful educational tool that offers online reading activities for all ages and ability levels. It adapts to students' individual ability levels and presents them with thousands of skill building exercises that suit their needs. All of my students have grown at least two reading levels!

In addition to improving their reading levels, we just kicked off Genius hour in our classroom! Genius Hour is where I let my students become experts in anything they want. The Chromebooks allow them to explore their passions, and I saw engagement like never before. The idea for Genius Hour comes from GOOGLE. They give their employees 20% of their time to work on pet projects. The idea behind the movement is that when you give someone time to work on what they are passionate about, productivity and morale goes up. The learning possibilities are endless! My students want to learn how to make stop- motion Lego movies, teach themselves a new skill, make an Anti-Bullying PSA and design new video games.

The greatest impact of these your donation is giving my students the opportunity to bring learning to life. My students struggle with many challenges both at home and in school. The Chromebooks have helped them become 21st century learners, and are preparing them for a bright future!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Iatesta

My students are third graders who attend a public K-8 school in New Jersey. They live in a high poverty community and our school's funding is extremely limited. Due to recent economic hardships, our funding has been cut significantly and materials are even scarcer than before.
