  • Art Meets Architecture

    Funded Sep 28, 2024

I want to express our sincere thanks for your generous donation of the cardboard construction tools to our art class. These tools have already had an incredible impact, enabling our students to create amazing works of art and explore the basics of simple structures and architecture. We are so grateful for your support!

With these tools, our students have gained a newfound sense of independence in their creative process. They are now able to design and build their projects with greater confidence, using the tools to cut, shape, and assemble cardboard into everything from sculptures to small-scale structures. The independence they've gained from working with these materials is helping them develop essential problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of the relationship between form and function.

One of the most exciting moments so far was when a student used the tools to create a stunning cardboard owl. The precision and attention to detail that went into the design was impressive, and it was a perfect example of how the tools are fostering creativity and exploration. The owl project not only showcased the student's artistic skills but also their growing understanding of structure and form—skills that will serve them well in future projects and beyond.

Thank you again for your generosity. Your donation is helping our students develop both their artistic abilities and their independence, and we are excited to see where their creativity takes them next. We couldn't be more grateful for your support in making our classroom a place where students can thrive and explore new artistic horizons.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. LaBrecque

  • A Little Art Studio Library.

    Funded Aug 28, 2024

On behalf of the entire art class, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation of the library cart. It has already become an invaluable resource in our classroom, helping us organize and access a wide range of materials that support students' creative projects.

The cart provides quick access to books, reference materials, and other resources, which empowers our students to explore new ideas, techniques, and artistic concepts. It has made a real difference in the way we are able to provide information and inspiration for the students' projects. The convenience of having everything in one place has also helped foster a more dynamic and interactive learning environment.

We are truly grateful for your support, which enhances the quality of our art program and enriches the students' educational experience. Your thoughtful donation is a wonderful gift that continues to make an impact in our classroom every day.

Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity”

  • Creating Masks for Storytelling

    Funded May 7, 2024

My students are so grateful for the supplies you have provided them. They are using the masks, markers and embellishments to create art pieces that will be used for a variety of activities.

Some students will be using their masks for story telling or creative play while some will display their masks as decorative art. Students are given the opportunity to create from their own experiences and imagination using techniques learned in the art studio.

The students are learning planning, problem solving and tool use while making something beautiful. We appreciate your generosity and support in our artistic growth.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. LaBrecque

  • Fundamental Art Supplies

    Funded Jan 18, 2024

The photos I have included show one of the many art pieces my students create in our art studio. Some of the lessons are whole group art that the students reproduce from a exemplar that I show them how to make. However, most of the art they create comes from their imagination and exploration using the materials provided.

The students were so excited to see all the colors of construction paper that was available to them. With these materials, the students ideas began to flow! Some students are using the paper to make three dimensional flower bouquets for spring. Other students have made collages or added construction paper to painting projects and my kindergarten through second grade have done various paper weaving projects like paper mats, cards or journals using the woven construction paper.

I am looking forward to seeing what my fourth graders imagine for their upcoming art show. We will also be using the construction paper for mosaics in our symmetry unit.

My students appreciate your generous contribution to our art studio!”

  • Art Exploration and Creation Leads to Innovation

    Funded Dec 1, 2023

My students were so excited to see the yarn, crochet hooks and scissors. The upper grades were especially excited to see the scissors, as our regular scissors have very small handles suited for kindergarten. The new scissors have much wider grip so that the upper grades can use the scissors comfortably.

The students got to planning their projects for our fiber unit as soon as we received these supplies! The first step for my students is to plan how they will use the supplies. This is in the form of a sketch. They must tell what supplies they plan to use and make a sketch that shows they final project.

The lower grades use yarn to enhance drawings a variety of ways. For example, using yarn for hair on a self portrait or using it as lines in a landscape. The upper grades use it in art and in more advanced ways. Some of the students have chosen to incorporate yarn chains into their art projects. Some of the these students are making wearable art in the form of scarves. I love that the students, many from low income homes can fulfill their art requirements and make something wearable at the same time.”

  • Swish, Shade, Sculpt, Imaginations at Work!

    Funded Aug 22, 2023

My students were so excited to see the new supplies, especially the Mr. Sketch markers. One student said, "It is like coloring with a rainbow!" Another student asked where the supplies came from and were delighted to know that people outside our school were so generous. "Wow! A perfect stranger bought these(pointing to the supplies), They must be really nice and kind to buy us these". It was evident in students reactions that they appreciate having the tools they need and your generosity!

These supplies you have provided allow my students to explore, learn and grow in the classroom. They are using their new supplies for many projects throughout each grade level. Some of our 4th grade students used the Mr Sketch markers to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month by make a poster to hang in the school hall displaying many Latin flags that they created. Some of our first graders used colored pencils to practice shading during a lesson in which they created realistic bubbles. Our kinders drew pumpkins for fall with pencil and colored them with choice of colored pencils or markers! Thank you for helping my students thrive!”

  • Developing Craft and Expressing Creativity Through Art

    Funded Mar 16, 2023

I just want to take a minute to say your donation was greatly appreciated. I would like to share how the materials you provided have benefitted the students. The students were excited to receive these materials and use them for their artwork. Many of them used these supplies to make art for the art show.

The creativity our students show is incredible! All of the resources were lovingly used to create drawings, clay sculpture and other mixed media projects. The students were excited to show these works of art during our art show.

One student created a mixed media piece from a drawing they made using the colored pencils. This piece was a 3 dimensional rendering of a ship at sea. This student used a cardboard box and painted the inside for the back drop. They used clay to sculpt an old ship with a figure head. He added wood sticks and fabric to make the mast and sails. He also hung clouds and lightning above the ship. This student was able to flourish having access to the materials they needed.

Our ship builder was only one of many students that were able to make beautiful, creative, thoughtful art. We can not thank you enough for helping our students shine!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. LaBrecque

The art supplies will be used almost daily. Many of our lessons utilize art supplies for lesson completion. For instance, we read the story The Kissing Hand at the beginning of the school year. After hearing the story, the children complete an art project related to the story. Most of the kindergarten lessons have an art project which requires basic art supplies such as crayons and markers. This is one of the most satisfying aspects of the lessons for the children. They look forward to working with color and adding their own expressive flair to their projects. I love to see the children showing their projects at the end of the lesson with great pride.
