The pendulum is shifting back in the right direction. We are now seeing age appropriate items being allowed back into the classrooms, as they should be. This is the first exposure to a school environment for many of my students, as well as the only exposure to the English language for some of them. It is important that these students enjoy their time in the classroom, in order to feel comfortable enough to explore and socialize with their peers. This tool will help to fuel conversation and interest as we use the sand and water table to explore movement, expose the students to different textures, and most of all, build positive social skills. It will be used in cohesion with our new curriculum to expose students to meaningful vocabulary and content, that they will then build upon throughout their educational journeys. The addition of this sand and water table to our classroom will further enhance the students love of learning.
