Many, many thanks from all of us!”

A Garden of Health
Funded Oct 6, 2016Your generous contribution to my classroom's project has made a great impact on my students' learning. They're thrilled to see the materials, such as gardening tools, books on insects and healthy food, and germ experiment kit!
We started the unit learning about healthy food and living things like plants. Using the gardening tools, the students and I were were able to plant lettuce, radishes, and bok choy. The kids were excited to partake in growing the vegetables from seeds, taking ownership of seeding, watering, and harvesting. They sampled the plants in a class salad, and still have enough to bring them home to share with their family! At this point in the year, we are continuing to grow other plants, such as green onions, carrots, and potatoes. Spring harvest will be around the corner!
Currently, we are starting to learn about insects and oh boy they love exploring the creatures. The books provided through your funding allowed them to read insects that they haven't heard of. We will start learning helpful and harmful insects, their impact on the environment and food cycle, in the next few weeks. And we will wrap up the unit with healthy practices, such as keeping our hands cleaned, by participating in a germ experiment.
Again, this project wouldn't have been possible without your donation. My kids and I are extremely appreciative of your kindness!”

Celebrating Diversity Through Art & Literature
Funded May 17, 2012Initially I had requested this project for my kindergarten class, but due to the end-of-the year activities, I was unable to accomplish it with them. However, I used the art materials and books with my new third graders this year.
My students and I are extremely appreciative of your donations. We used it as part of the "getting to know" activities during the first two weeks of school. They enjoyed the literature and learned that accepting their classmates' individual uniqueness and differences is part of making friends and maintaining a positive relationship.
We look forward to utilizing the remaining books as we continue to celebrate diversity.
Thank you again for supporting our class' needs!!!”

Funded Mar 4, 2012I am extremely grateful for your generous support. It's great to see that you share my vision for reaching children.
I love incorporating technology in my lessons and having a projector will provide the means for me to display powerpoint presentations, video clips, and other instructional materials that are related to our units of studies. It will enable students to come up and share their work with the class, from writing to art.
Thank you so much and I can't wait to tell the students we have a new projector!”

Technology in Kindergarten = Endless Possibilities Part 1
Funded Jan 25, 2012We have received the iPad 2 and my students are thrilled! They were so excited that they couldn't stop reminding me to install applications on the device.
The iPad is used mainly during centers where they work in pairs on phonics and reading applications. Students apply their knowledge of initial sounds, short vowels, sight words, and reading comprehension skills to the educational apps. They cannot wait to have their turn on them!
There are many more possibilities that can be used with the iPad. I envision it will enhance instruction as I can locate images to help define vocabulary words and show videos relevant to units of study.
Without donors like you, my class wouldn't have the proper technology to aide us in learning and instruction. We deeply appreciate your generosity!”

Funded Nov 5, 2011Our class is thrilled to receive the physical education equipment: jump ropes, hula hoops, batting tee set, and stepping buckets. The kids are having so much fun playing with them and don't even realize they are exercising! It brings me joy to have kids run up and ask me to see how many times they can spin a hula hoop; how many times they can jump; and how far they can hit the ball.
One of my hopes with this resource is to expose girls to tee-ball, what is commonly a male sport, and expose boys to jumping rope and hula hooping, which are commonly liked among girls. It's exciting to see that my children are enjoying and learning new sports/activities that they wouldn't normally do or/and don't have the opportunity to do so.
Thank you again for your support. You have made it possible for the kids to maintain a healthy lifestyle while having fun doing!”

Kindergarteners + Math Games = Magnificent Mathematicians
Funded Dec 24, 2011The math games that you have donated have been a part of our daily math hour routine. After the kids complete their assignment, they select a file folder game to play by themselves or with a partner. These games are terrific! They are user-friendly- being organized by pictures and colors makes them super easy to clean up. Most importantly they reinforce all the skills the kids have learned, including numbers, patterns, sorting, and many more.
WIthout your generous donations, our class would be stuck with very few, old, torn-up games to play with. Because of your contributions, my students have something to look forward to during math centers. Again, my students and I deeply appreciate your support in math education.”
