ENL Students Need Books
Funded Sep 29, 2022Thanks to your generosity, our project was fully funded, and our classroom is now enriched with new books that have transformed our reading experience. These texts have introduced our students to essential skills such as comprehension, vocabulary building, and critical thinking. We've been able to explore diverse genres and themes, fostering a deeper love for reading.
In our classroom, reading has become a dynamic and interactive activity. Students engage in discussions, group readings, and independent explorations, allowing them to connect with the material in meaningful ways.
One particular student, who previously struggled with engagement, has found a new favorite series and now eagerly participates in class discussions. This newfound enthusiasm has not only boosted their confidence but also inspired their peers.
Your support has truly made a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution to our students' growth and development.”

Funded Sep 8, 2022You have helped my class tremendously with realizing that learning English can be fun! They have built confidence during morning meeting when we talk about the days of the week and the weather outside. They look at the resource that helps them identify which day it is as well as how the weather is outside. Using those posters, we say sentences in English and then write those sentences. They are getting better and better each day and needing those resources less and less!
Center time has been so much fun! One of their favorite games is the sequence game where they have to put a story in the correct sequential order using picture cards. After placing them in the correct order, they orally tell their stories to each other, using sequence words such as first, next, then last, etc. This game has helped so much with building their confidence in speaking since they can relate to the stories on the cards and can practice saying a story out loud. For my English Learners who are at a higher proficiency level, they are asked to write the stories in the notebook.
Finally, the chart paper is mostly used by the students where they show off all of the new words they learned in the past few weeks. It could be a word that they learned from a friend, or vocabulary words that they learned from a story. They would write these new English words that they learned and tried their best to write a definition, draw a picture, and write a sentence. They are amazed each time we do this activity when they realize just how many new English words they are learning. They are very aware that this knowledge is helping them with their overall English language proficiency and they are very proud of themselves.
Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are having an amazing and fun year, thanks to you all, my donors!
I hope you all have a wonderful new year.”

Funded Aug 26, 2022My students absolutely love having this whiteboard in our classroom. It's ability to move easily because it is lightweight makes it easy for any learner to use and maneuver the board in class.
We used the board specifically for our daily morning messages where students help me fix any grammatical and spelling errors. They enjoy doing this every day and look forward to it. They especially enjoy fixing the errors themselves.
We have also used this board with a math assignment. We learned about the distributive property and I asked them to show how they would use the Distributive Property to solve a specific multiplication equation. They used sticky notes to answer the question with a partner and come up to the board to post their responses. This showed the students that although there are different ways to use the distributive property, when used correctly, you should reach the same product. This was also a great way as a teacher to visually see which students struggled so I can pull a quick small group based on their needs.
Not only has this donation made an impact on my students, it has also made an impact on my pedagogy.
Thank you so much for your generosity! You have no idea how much it meant to us all!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Valentin
