Outdoor science school is a tradition within our school district, and while most schools in the district still are able to attend, last year our fifth graders missed out. The district does not have the funding, and many of our families are struggling to make ends meet. The experience of going as a fifth grader to camp, is not only educational in the study of nature and ecological processes, but students have a bonding experience with their classmates. Students will hike through the forests, learn about the types of plants that grow in the area, as well as measure a redwood tree. Students will create skits with their nature group, and will participate in a bonfire. Students develop a newfound respect for nature, and get an incredible memory of an overnight camp experience.
