Music Moves Me
Funded Aug 12, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation! I am so excited that I can incorporate these movement scarves into the music/movement kits. Not only do the scarves make it fun to move to music, but it also gives the kids a familiar experience. Almost everything for the students will look different this year. Moving with scarves is something the students love to do and because of your donation, they will still be able to enjoy this activity and do it in a safe way.”

Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donations!! This school year will present many challenges to music educators. Many of the activities that the students are used to and look forward to will need to be either altered or removed from this year’s curriculum. These books will help fill the void and give the students some fun new activities.”

Funded Nov 22, 2019Thank you so much for giving my students a classroom set of headphones, a small and portable casio keyboard and various keyboard curriculum materials by Meridee Winters.
When the headphones arrived, the students were excited to see them. The fifth and sixth graders in particular were thrilled to see headphones. They have been working on creating video game music and it can get quite loud in the room with 25 students with chrome books creating music.
We will be starting a keyboard unit shortly. The headphones will also be a necessity for that project as 25 keyboards can be quite loud. With the keyboard unit, I will also be using the Meridee Winters curriculum materials. These materials will aid the students in learning the names of the notes, keys, finger positions, correct playing techniques and much more.
Thank you so much for giving my students the tools to master the keyboard!”

Music On Fire
Funded Jan 9, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation of kindles to the music room at Halifax Elementary School!! Students of all grades have had the opportunity to use them and LOVE them!! In fact, if it were up to them, they would use them every day!
There are many different ways that the Kindles have made an impact in our classroom. One of the apps that have become a student favorite is "Staff Wars". It allows the students to "zap" the correct note that is flying through the galaxy. This game is a great review for students who struggle with remembering note names. Another favorite app is an app called "DPM" (drum pad machine). This app allows the students to use their creativity and create/record songs using a variety of sound effects. So fun!!
Other apps that have been downloaded include instrument memory games, note naming games, ear training apps, and most importantly, apps that allow the children to create and explore music.
It is so exciting to see students love music and develop their skills in a truly motivating and exciting way!! Thank you!”
