  • We Like To "Zome It Zome It!"

    Funded Nov 27, 2018

First off, thank you for your generosity. Without your help I would not have these great kits to use with my students.

The kits arrived last week and the kids saw them un-boxed on my desk when they came in. We are currently doing a STEM challenge with plastic cups building Christmas trees. The kids have to build them a minimum of 3 feet tall and use over 110 cups to do it. They also have to add "decorations" of beads to their tree too. One group finished early and I introduced the Zome kits to them. I was just going to let them explore how they work and the next thing I knew they had created a star for the tree, presents for the tree and snowflakes! It was so cool to watch their creativity flow. All of my classes, from first grade to sixth grade have had a blast working with them and I can't wait for our first official Zome Activity in January.

Again, thank you for all of your help with obtaining the kits. The kids and I truly appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coleman

  • Math - iI's All Fun and Games!

    Funded Jan 17, 2017

Thank you again for donating school supplies to our classroom. We truly do use them on a daily basis! The playing cards, pencils, erasers and dry erase markers not only helped my students tremendously, but also helped me. It always means a lot when others in our community help out in our classrooms. Since I see our entire school population, it means that I buy pencils, erasers, markers, cards, dominoes, etc for almost 700 students. By the end of the year we have easily gone through 2,000 pencils and erasers especially! This gesture helped me from buying those extras in the spring from out of my own pocket.”

  • Uni-Cube It!

    Funded Aug 29, 2016

We have had our new items for a little over 2 weeks and as you can see they are being used already! Thank you so much for providing them. It has been wonderful seeing the kids light up and tell me how much they love the "Dory and Nemo" rugs on the floor. (The carpet has fish with numbers on them!) They have expressed how happy they are to not have to sit on the cold, dirty floor and how nice having a rug is.

The kids have also been working on addition in first and second grade. First grade has used the Unifix cubes to model their addition problems and second grade has used theirs for modeling addition of 4 or more single digit numbers. Being able to show the differences in the numbers with the colored cubes is a blessing.

Again, thank you so much for taking the time and making a donation. It means more to my students and I than I can express.”

  • FunMatics!

    Funded May 7, 2015

First off, thank you again for your generous donation. I am grateful that you decided to donate to my classroom project.

My younger students and I are really enjoying using the new magnetic tens-frames that you helped purchase. As you can see in the pictures, they enjoy making the numbers that I call out to them and completing "part/part/whole" assignments using them as manipulatives. These are HUGE for the younger students.

I teach approximately 700 students per week. When the 300 that use them the most saw them the first week, they were so excited. They have used similar tens-frames, but none that were this high tech. It makes learning so much fun when things are bright, shiny and new!

As I continue to lead the math lab for the students I will continue using these items with my students, especially my kindergarten through second graders. They really need to have the grasp on the base ten system that we use for math in order to fully understand how math works.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coleman

  • EnVisioning The Future Of Math

    Funded Feb 14, 2014

Thank you for your generous contribution to our classroom. We have been able to continue our push with our new Math standards this school year and it has been much easier because of the calculators. The students were overwhelmed, for a lack of better terms, with the packages when they arrived. They were amazed that people in our community would be willing to donate technology to our classroom. It has since made teaching much easier for me, and the students, because we no longer have to share a few calculators between myself and another teacher. Each student now has their own calculator to use in class.”

  • Pollution Doesn't Hurt Us.......Or Does It?

    Funded May 7, 2010

I would like to again thank you for your generous donations to my classroom and students. The items that were given have really impacted my students and reminded them why the environment is something we have to keep clean.

Your donations have ensured that another group of children know the harmful effects that pollution has on our environment. The donations have also helped to teach the students that we as humans are the causes of pollution, and also the solution to pollution.

Again I thank you for giving my students and I this opportunity for learning.”

  • Can you K'NEX?

    Funded Mar 23, 2010

Thank you so much for the donations made to our classroom project. Having the K'nex sets are such a blessing! We have been able to use them to focus on force and motion and what makes a better vehicle design. This has been a great hands on tool in Science. Also, it has helped me to discuss some economic points as well, which is a great Social Studies lesson!

My students love the time they have been able to explore the K'nex sets. They enjoy them so much, that they even ask if they can design things during rainy day recess and afterschool!

Again, I can not thank you enough for your generosity. I can't wait to incorporate the sets even more in years to come.”

    With gratitude,

  • Making Waves, Oceans and Landforms

    Funded Nov 6, 2009

I would like to thank you for your generous donations to my Science project. My class and I were thrilled to receive the opportunity to complete our unit of study on Oceans and Landforms by doing so many hands-on projects.

My students were able to build landforms with shaving cream, make the ocean floor from Play-Doh, make and label waves with Twizzlers, along with so many other things. All of these great activities could not have been possible without your help.

Again, I thank you for taking the time out to read over my project and for deciding to donate. My current class has benefited, and so will more of my classes in the future. ”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coleman

My classroom is one of constant hands on activities to encourage all learning styles to flourish in our classroom. I teach 5th grade, all subject areas (self-contained). My classroom tends to be made up of students who typically enjoy and need more hands on activities to help with their learning styles. My classroom is a pilot type program for our grade level within our school.
