  • Classroom Basics for Success!

    Funded Dec 2, 2024

Thank you so much for your help in getting my kindergarteners new paint palettes, trays, and new mailboxes. This is the perfect time for these new addition to the classroom as we have adjusted and are now ready for more small group learning and painting. Again, we are very appreciative and so thankful for your generosity!”

  • Fun and Hands-On Learning!

    Funded Sep 26, 2023

I can not thank you enough for the contribution you made to "Fun and Hands-On Learning!" My students eye light up every time I take out the literacy games for small group instruction. They ask when they get called to work with me at the back table if it for fun games! They have quickly mastered their letters and sounds from these hands-on games.

I most recently showed them the mini flashlights last week and they all screamed with excitement. They have recently showed some stamina with independent reading so I thought it would be fun to read with flashlights in the dark before we left for winter break. They were all engaged reading different books and reading with each other. It was amazing to see this joy of reading.

I plan to continue to use these flashlight as a way to bring fun and joy to reading this year! I can't wait to see what amazing readers I have by June!”

  • Learn Through Outdoor Play!

    Funded Aug 28, 2022

This project has been invaluable for my students! Their eyes lit up when they saw the delivery of hula hoops, balls, cones, chalk, bean bags, and parachute.

I try and get my class outside for a 2nd organized recess as much as I can, especially before these winter months come. They love when we make an obstacle course with the cones and hula hoops where they run between them and race to their partner. They also love tossing the balls and bean bags to a friend or balancing a cone or bean bag on their head. Any hands on activity made into a game brings joy to their faces. Their most favorite is when I say we will bring the giant parachute out!! They love singing songs and moving in a circle holding on to it or tossing the beanbag on the parachute from side to side. The laughter and smiles are contagious.

These donations have brought so much joy and happiness to my classroom and I am excited to continue to use them year after year with class.”

  • Leaping Into Literacy

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to our project. The organization in our classroom has greatly improved since we received the items. The students were so excited to have their own personal book bins-- which add so much color to the classroom!!!

We have 30 students in the classroom with limited space. Students sit at tables so there is no place to store their items. They now each have their own book bin to store books, copybooks, and a writing journal. The new carpet is a great space to pull small groups. It is also a place where students can go to work on puzzles, word work, and other centers with a partner.

We are so very grateful for your generosity. Thank you for being such a special part of our class and for helping us raise the funds we needed. We promise to keep these items in perfect condition to use year after year!”

  • The Gift of Reading

    Funded Aug 4, 2021

This project has been very beneficial to my students. There are a variety of fiction and informational books available on RazzKids on different levels level. It brings joy to their faces when they realize they can actually read these books on their own!

In class, we spend a lot of time on story retelling. Through the use of RazzKids, students are able to continue to practice the skills we use in class at centers and at home. There are comprehension questions at the end of each story where students can practice retelling and show off their knowledge.

RazzKids is used as a center in my classroom and at home. Due to covid, we can not share books at my school so I don't have a classroom library where they can sit and independently read. Having RazzKids allows me to still have a library center where they read books independently on their chromebooks. Many students don't have leveled books at home and due to covid, I can't have a lending library where books go back and forth between school and home. By having access to RazzKids, students are able to continue to read books on their level at home.”

  • Online Resources Engage Kinders!

    Funded Jan 1, 2021

This project has been extremely beneficial to my students, especially during this time while we are learning virtually. Many of my students do not have access to books, manipulatives, or materials that will help them learn at home. I have been able to use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card to buy amazing digital resources to enhance learning.

My students especially love all of the graphics on the slides and games that I bought with the gift card. They love the addition/subtraction slides, shape slides , and number cards that I have been able to purchase digitally. They also love all of the words games and letter matching slides that use voice command to help them with words they do not know.

I have students that all have different needs but my English Language Learners and students that receive learning support have benefited the most from these additional resources I have bought with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card.

Having this project funded has been more beneficial this year than I could have ever imagined.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Findlay

  • Life-Long Readers

    Funded Aug 26, 2020

This project has been extremely beneficial to my students, especially during this time while we are learning virtually. Many of my students do not have access to books, let alone books on their level, so they are enjoying reading books that they can actually read. They love the variety of fiction and informational books as well.

In class, we talk about authors, illustrators, characters, setting, and retelling. Through the use of RazzKids, students are able to take what we talk about in class and continue these skills on their independent level in these texts. They are able to record themselves reading and I am able to listen to them read which is a great feature. The comprehension quiz at the end of each book is another awesome feature that they love to test their knowledge.

Using RazzKids this year looks a little different than it would in normal years. Each night I assign them 10 minutes of independent reading. They listen to stories and then read the books aloud. I also use these books for guided reading during the day with small groups. They love reading with their classmates and using the popcorn method to call on each other. Having this project funded has been more beneficial this year than I could have ever imagined.”

    Mrs. Findlay

  • Organization in Kindergarten!

    Funded Mar 1, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to our seat sack project. The organization in our classroom has greatly improved. We could not contril our excitement when the seat sacks arrived. Each student gained the opportunity to learn how to organize his/her own own stuff using these seat sacks.

We have 30 students in the classroom with limited space. We now have more space in the room to store our belongings. With the extra space, we can move from one activity to another activity because of the visibility of the materials. The beautiful blue color of the seat sacks also adds some color to the classroom.

We are so very grateful for your generosity. Thank you for being such a special part of our class and for helping us raise the funds we needed. We promise to now keep our belongings organized.”

  • Scholastic Magazines for my Kindergarten Students

    Funded Aug 25, 2016

Every time I tell my students it's time to do our "Let's Find Out Magazines," I hear a few children shout out, "YES!!" Your donations have truly brought many smiles to my classroom!

This magazine is a wonderful source of informational text. They are on the kids level and very fun and colorful for them to use. We read them together and do activities on that topic. We even get to see Online Scholastic videos that bring to life what we read in class. Most times the children have questions about the topic that extends their learning experience beyond the magazine article.

I love to hear the kids say, "I see some of our sight words!!" This magazine has helped to boost their excitement about learning to read. They love that they can bring the magazines home and read them to their family.

Thanks again for your generosity to my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Findlay

Scholastic News is an amazing resource that gives students a chance to be engaged in non-fiction articles on their reading level. My students are unaware of the world outside of their homes so this resource gives them an opportunity to learn about current events. There is an online component to the magazine which includes games, videos, and much more. The students love this component. My students get so excited when I tell them we are reading Scholastic News articles. When they are done with the issue at school, they can take it home and have engaging conversations with family about current events.
