I work in a low-income school. I also work with the students who are learning English as a Second Language. I have many students who have been in the country less than a year. Students who are learning a language have four major focus areas: speaking, writing, reading, and listening. With a listening center, my EASL students will be able to focus on at least two of these tasks: reading and listening. This will allow my students to develop their skills at a faster level, and will be a great small-group activity for my students. I came into the classroom last year as a first year teacher, and saw that I had similar items provided for me. Unfortunately, they were all broken and I was unable to use any of them. My school can't afford to replace them, and I would if I could--but I can't alone.
