I had my first experience with an Elmo at a PD I took last year. It was an eye opener for me. Being able to have students watch me as I model exactly what needs to be done would be such a blessing. I would love to be able to use this in my class daily to enhance student learning. These devices would allow my students the opportunity to learn collaboratively from one another as well as increase student discussions. The ability to have students share their work so that the whole class can see it and we can analyze it together would be so valuable to students. The document camera and projector work together to provide more of a engaging experience for students, especially for my lowest level students. With the use of this technology, my students will be able to better understand the math concepts being taught as they will be able to learn through the work of their peers. I had the chance to borrow one from a friend this past school year to use as part of a lesson on argumentative writing in my health class. It really allowed me to use a gradual release method for data collection where I first modeled with the students, then we read and collected data together and by the third reading, they were off and working on their own. It was amazing to see their progress and the essays turned out great.
