My class needs exposure to real life content in math and science. I provide a number of resources that help to make those real world connections but I want students to understand the value in acquiring information about the world around us by seeking this information out in newspapers and magazines. I want my students to develop a love of reading all types of content. One of the things that I have learned in teaching is that students enjoy when science and math are made to be relevant in their lives. Students enjoy when you step outside of the textbook and they can read about real life events or contributions from children their own age in other parts of the world. It makes the connection to the content being taught easier to really learn. Children love learning new things when they find it interesting. I want my students to broaden their vocabulary and content knowledge in science and math. I want them to really understand the importance of keeping up with changes that are made in the world around them everyday.
